Which other early American cultures? Are you talking about the Aztecs, Incas and such? C is the answer anyway! There were no buffalo south of the Rio Grande to speak of!
 
The answer is C.
Also, they were a more nomadic peoples and didn't live in permanently fixed settlements but lived in makeshift tents following the annual migration of the buffalo and other herd animals.
