i saw this movie saturday with my family...i have never been so moved by a film in my life...no one had a dry eye and everyone left sniffling....

it was absolutely moving to see how and why jesus suffered...it's different when i read the scriptures but to have a visual as powerful as this movie is awe inspriring...

i felt blessed to be able to witness on film the true love christ has for us all...i want to try to live each day as he would...

i didn't understand where the possible anti-semitism sentiment came from...i saw a man who loved so much he gave his life for the very people who mocked and cursed him...gentile and jew a like...

i think some folks may have come to view the movie with their own agenda and wound up missing a great message...folks need to see it for themselves instead of relying on other opinions...

what i got out of this was the greatest gift is love....

I wish Mel the best with the movie

I thought it was a really well made movie. Gibson did a great job at making it historically accurate as well as making it a great looking movie. I go to a Christian college so we rented out a theater to see it and it was the first movie I've ever been to where everyone is totally silent during the entire credits and no one even moved until a few minutes after all the credits were done. It was just so powerful.

The violence was extremely hard to watch and there were times I couldn't watch at all, and I'm a person who never gets effected by blood or violence in movies. Even though it was really intense at times, I don't agree with people who critisize Gibson for being too over the top. That is what actually happened to him, he's just the first filmmaker who hasn't been afraid to show it without censoring anything.

Going in, I didn't think I was going to cry but I cried during multiple parts. It was really moving and I'd recommend it to everyone.

Charlize's Angel- I agree... I

the symbolism and cinematography of the whole movie...

Ultimato- I recently saw it a second time too but i didn't cry as much...

rachel s- ditto.

LilDegrassiPrince- I was thinking along those same lines too... As much Mel's film is touching, realistic, etc... I think it probably pales in comparsion to the real agony and pain of Jesus...

True, it would help to know a bit of history. But it's definetely not necessary.

Do you mind if I snag?

I've seen the movie twice, I think it's very impressive. After I saw it the first time, I had difficulties to articulate my feelings. It definitely takes time to fully understand the movie and the meaning of the events it portrays. So I'm glad I went to see it again. The second time it hit me harder and I was very emotional days after it and especially during the Easter. I'm a Christian so to me the story of the movie is the truth (although I do understand it is a movie and Mel Gibson's interpretation, but I think it's fairly accurate) and that's why I appreciate not only the beauty of the movie as an artwork but also the amazing sacrifice of Jesus that the movie is based on. I'd recommend this movie to everyone.

I will drive over to the big city to see it if it will be showing for a longer period of time there. Pleeaaase does anyone know? How long will the movie be at YOUR local theater? help!!

Huh? The movie isn't out yet. Why are you looking for subtitles?

I am REALLY looking forward to this movie. I am a Christian and really think this movie looks so good and very realistic. I think it be very powerful but very hard to watch as well and quite sad.

I don't really understand why the big deal over the supposedly anti-semitic stuff. Even if it does make it look like the Jews sold him out...that's not the point. If Jesus DID NOT DIE, then there was no point in him coming to earth. He HAD to die. Anyways the whole point is that it wasn't Jews who sent him to the cross, it was all of us as a result of our sins. Anyways that is just what I believe.

Great movie , very well done. I got quite emotional.
People generally were quiet and a few were sobbing.
I think knowing a little bit of history about Christianity will help the audience of other religions , understand the movie better esp the flashbacks.JMO

OF COURSE!! All these avis are for free...

For some reason, I think the Passion of the Christ was suppose to be much longer with more developed flashbacks, but Mel Gibson decided to shorten it...

I haven't commented on this before other than to post the article regarding the ugly baby. That being said, I thought that the picture that Satan and the ugly baby portrayed was more of an anti-Madonna-and-Child than any type of anti-Christ. Most people are familiar with the religious paintings of old that show Mary holding the baby Jesus. There certainly are many of those types of paintings around, and many of them are quite beautiful. To me, the androgynous Satan holding a scary looking "baby" seemed more of a mockery of the relationship that Mary had with Jesus.

Thank you for the link, aldebaran. I hope that clears up some of the confusion about the baby.

I'm wondering though, many kept saying they thought the baby was the anti-christ... What made you think that? Because I didn't think that, I that's not what I heard about it. I heard something similar to this article and that it was from a painting.

I'm going to see this on Wednesday night with my best friend and her mom. I'm looking forward to it.

among other things jesus was very human in his emotions...one of my favorite parts of the film was the scene between jesus and his mother...when he was making a table....it showed jesus smiling and laughing....for many years my family has kept a picture of jesus, in their home, that depicts him laughing....i truly believe that jesus was joyful and happy throughout his life....and that he laughed and smiled alot.....

i heard that Jim Caveizel actually got struck by lightning while filiming the crucifixtion scene. is this true?

Hello!
