The Passion of the Christ (spoilers)

Though i would actually like to change my view slightly,although i dont think people uner 14 should see this,i dont think it should have been rated,as you are alienating LOTS of christians,and stopping them from seeing it
 
Completely irrelevent. All films should be rated, as violent or sexual material may have a damaging/disturbing effect on people too young to understand what is happening. The BBFC are also (rightly) concerned with restricting material that might be imitated by those too young to fully understand it.

The only way round this for Passion would be to release a cut version, passed by BBFC as 12A; which would allow youngsters to see it when accompanied by parents. The necessary cuts may not be acceptable to Mr Gibson's artistic vision.
 
Well that is a debate which could go on for ever,and is all down to opinions,i dont see why something which is sposed to be "real" should be restricted,You see real deaths on the news,which are more brutal then that is not censored

Actually Aramaic is still spoken (as a first language) by a few thousand people in Lebanon, Syria and Iraq. Its closely related to Arabic.

just because i am 15 does not mean i cant appriciate it as much as any older person now,i would say i can appriciate it now fine
 
One of the bets bits about this film was all the hints of things people without any religion dont see. As a Catholic (and Mel Gibson being a Catholic too) I noticed all these.

These are a few examples:

- when the devil comes and tempts Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane. The snake comes and Jesus treaRAB on its head. I dont see this as some cheesy bit of film making, but it has a far more deeper meaning. If you look at many statues of Our Lady, she is seen treading on the head of a serpent ie the devil. Hmm, sheer coincidence? I think not.

- when the devil comes with that little mini me of himself. I think, since the devil is portraying himself as a sort of woman (ie mary) and the midget is a baby (eg baby Jesus), then you could be led to think that this midget is meant to represent the antichrist. Interesting.
 
Saw the film Monday with fellow Christians and what an amazing film. I cannot think of any more effective method of getting the message of Jesus (& God) across, especially in this modern world. How else can you tell the story of how Jesus died for all of us, including persons who crucified him, all in the space of about 2 hours, and in such a powerful way that resulted in near-silence as everyone left the cinema. I counted less than 5 people (of about 50 - it was Monday night after all) who even moved before the credits finished.

It certainly was gruesome (at times) and even I had to turn away / flinch once or twice but I never felt it was over-gratuitous. I was disappointed it ended where it did and that it didn't show the empty tomb and Jesus' reappearances but maybe that is to invite people to find out more themselves.

I believe this to be a modern way of preaching the core bible story which can have a life-lasting effects on anyone who sees it, whether they become christian or not.
