I've done this twice and one time through washer and dryer with no ill effects. Just let it sit out to dry a day or two just to be safe or you can hit it with a hair dryer to speed up the drying process.
Make sure it is totally dried out before you use it or else it will short out.
I did this once. We blew it with compressed air then put it by a heating register for a few hours and it worked fine until I lost it.
