The Other Boleyn Girl

Saw this today. The history was appalling and they glossed over some of the most important and interesting aspects of Henry's reign.

However, once I worked out that this wasn't really a historical film but rather a romance with a Tudor theme then I actually quite enjoyed the film. Scarlett Johanssen was a bit wet and a bit of a non-entity but I think that's what thte part called for. Bana was a good if slightly underused Henry but the film beling to Portman who was excellent throughout.

I'd recommend it but like the Elizabeth films, don't go if you are expecting to see something about history.

Mary married on 4 February 1520 when Carey was 24 years old and Mary not quite twelve.
Mary had two children, the first Catherine was the daughter of William Carey, born about 1524 when Mary was just sixteen.
Catherine Carey was appointed a maid of honor to Anne of Cleves, Henry's fourth wife.
In 1540, Catherine married Sir Francis Knollys.
She also became one of Queen Elizabeth's frienRAB and confidants (they were cousins) .
Catherine's daughter, Lettice Knollys, married Robert Dudley, one of the Queen's favourites.
Her son, the Earl of Essex, was another of Elizabeth's favorites (though eventually executed for treason.)
Henry Carey was made Lord Hunsdon in Elizabeth's reign.
