Anyone know when this movie will be released here, and in the US? Im a huge fan of the book & am keen to see the film. anyone know if there is a trailer? Anyone else looking forward to the movie, or maybe just me!? lol
7th March UK release.
I agreed, the book is really really good.
If some rumours are to be believed, and like the saying goes, the films not as good as the book!!
Im sure ive seen some teaser (dont think its the official trailer) but cannot seem to find it now.
IMBD will keep you informed. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0467200/
Thanks for the Link 1971, i remember looking at IMDB ages ago, but its been updated alot since then, thanks. I like the poster at least lol Im looking forward to seeing Natalie Portmans take on Anne Boleyn. Bit of a different role for her i think, shes a great actress tho. Yeah, i loved the book, Ive read a few of Phillipa Gregorys books in the Tudor series and really enjoyed them. But then ive always found the whole tudor period really interesting lol Oh Well, i like it lol
I'm miffed about the whole thing. Why can't some books be left alone? Virtually all my fave books have been made into movies and I think it's just lazy filmmaking. I loved the book and am not keen on Scarlett J, who seems to get offered every decent project going.
Fair Enough, i do kind of agree to a point. I loved the book, & if the film turns out to be awful ill be totally dissapointed lol Im not sure on Scarlett Johansson either, but im willing to reserve judgement. If its done well, it could be very good. I guess time will tell as they say
Did you see the TV version a while back?
I haven't read the book, but wonder if, like the TV drama, it suggests that Anne actually did commit incest with her brother. I always thought that was a trumped-up charge to blacken her name.
In the book it does seem to suggests that she was guilty of incest, however in the Boleyn Heritance it comes about the charges were false. The books are written in 1st person you get an unreliable view of what happened.
Just been to see this.
I thoroughly enjoyed it though I watched 'Anne Of The Thousand Days' the other night and it doesn't quite match that film.
My only gripe is that Eric Bana did not fit the King's shoes.
Eric was good and all that but Henry Vlll was such a towering, large redhead and .... Eric wasn't
I've just come back from seeing this and i thought Eric did a good job, he had the right physical presence to play Henry as he too is well over 6ft as was Henry,He certainly did a better job than Jonathan Rhys Meyers.
Scarlett and Natalie's accents were flawless and for me the only week link was the actor who played Anne and Mary's father, who was as terrible. All in all a very enjoyable film, even if it did flit through History rather quicky, ie, Henry breaking with Rome!!. Not as good as i was hoping, but not a total dissapointment either.
I adore the book and was ready to hate the movie, but I actually really enjoyed it. I did think it was a bit rushed though, I think they sacrificed too much of what the story was actually about (i.e. Mary) to concentrate on Anne and the King. They missed out important bits with Mary and William Carey and also how her relationship with William Stafford came about. Also, in the book, Mary has a girl by the King first.
Just came back from seeing this. I'm a huge fan of the book so I was torn when I saw the movie. I couldn't fault the main 3's (Scarlett, Natalie and Eric) acting - great performances and flawless accents. The film was very enjoyable, however it did skip a lot of the book and towarRAB the end it jumped through the story a lot (Going from Henry putting Katherine aside to Anne being beheaded).
Overall I did enjoy the film, even if it missed a lot of the book (which was annoying).
