I'm planning to see this with my cousin this weekend. We've been looking forward to it for a long time! I can't wait to see Natalie and Scarlett as sisters and Eric Bana as King Henry. :)

My cousin is in the middle of reading the book (or maybe she's finished it by now) but I haven't read it yet - though I'd like to.

I finally got to see this and enjoyed it. Both Natalie and Scarlett's performances impressed me and they were great as sisters. Natalie as Anne was a force to be reckoned with. Scarlett as Mary was softer and gentler, but her performance was wonderful too. Eric Bana made a good Henry, though he didn't have much to do, really.

[sp]Despite everything that happened between them at court, the sisterly bond between Mary and Anne never truly disappeared. It may have cracked but it never broke. I was happy with that.

Loved the scene where, after Anne is killed, Mary does what Anne had asked and takes Elizabeth with her. The shot of her walking out with the baby is GREAT.[/sp]

Now I want to read the book even more.

I bought the book, but haven't started it yet. I would really like to go see this movie, but i never get to go to the movies. I usually end up waiting until the movie comes out on DVD.

 Oh yeah, Eric Bana!

I saw this film a few days ago. My friends wanted to see it and it was something that I wasn't interested in, having no clue about any of the history. But now I love it!

Just saw this movie last night with a friend. I don't normally watch historical romance movies, but I really wanted to see this! We both really enjoyed it and the costumes were amazing! I loved the contrast of the actors/characters and Scarlett Johansen and Natalie Portman were both brilliantly cast.

Both of them are so gorgeous in the trailer! Like classic beauty but different. And let's not forget Bana too

I never got to see this. I will be excited when this comes out on DVD so I can rent it :D

I've read the book. Excellent and addictive. I couldn't put it down.

I'm definitely seeing the movie Friday. Can't wait!! :blinkie:

The movie was good, but if I was Mary I wouldn't have helped Anne. Anne was just jealous because for once she wasn't the center of attention. All Mary did was by herself to get the king's attention, while Anne was a two-face little whore. Although I do respect Mary for being loyal sister through and through. You don't see that everyday.

So I finally saw this movie, I've been meaning to see it for ages. I actually really liked it, I thought the last third was especially powerful as we see Anne's downward spiral. Natalie Portman's performance was amazing . I absolutely loved her in this, especially the last scene where [sp]she is beheaded[/sp]. Scarlett pulls out a good performance too, more subtle, not as showy, but not as captivating to me.

[sp]George's death and Anne's death[/sp] made me cry like a baby.

Oh and also, after this film, I officially want Jim Sturgess and Natalie Portman to star in another film together, preferably a romance .

I had the same reaction to The Golden Compass. I haven't read the book yet, but considering I really liked the movie, I saw it opening night with my sister and mom, I really want to see how the movie compares to the book after I read it. I got a barnes and noble gift card for my birthday. Now I know what to spend it on!

I dont know too much about the historical facts but the costumes were amazing! And the casting.... I loved Eric Bana as Henry!

Exactly. I hated the scene when he was in the dungeon and his [sp]execution.[/sp] :bawl: I'd forgotten how much of a git Henry was!

I'm going to see this movie tonight with my husband (he's not looking forward to it  ) I hope it's really good. I am reading the book right now. I don't care if they are similar. I enjoy historical pieces.

Doesn't your heart just break for George in that scene? He was pulled into a dangerous situation and he didn't deserve to die.
