The Oscars 2006

Bit early for this thread, seeing as they're not until March, but I love them, and thought it was great when they were shown on BBC for us to watch, but last year they were on a Sky Movie channel which I haven't got, was wondering if anyone knows what channels will be showing them this year so I can make plans to watch the ceremony.

I've been trying to find out for a while as Jon Stewart is hosting it. DigiGuide tend to have listings two weeks in advance, so hopefully we'll find out in mid-late February.. hope it's on the Beeb! :D

I hope it's on the Beeb - I haven't got Sky, and I love staying up full of caffiene and chocolate to watch them! (The year Return of the King cleaned up was fabulous).

And hopefully Jonathan Ross will do the ad breaks again!

Can I be the first to say it, in this forum anyway...Keira Knightly, what the fcuk. She couldn't act her way out of a paperbag, all she does is simper and grin. I am astounded, was there no-one else who warranted a gong for best actress in all the movies that have been released from Dec 04 to Dec 05?

Sky have a certain number of years on the contract they signed. Shame on BBC for not trying harder to keep the awarRAB on Terrestrial TV. I remember they said they 'let Sky have them.'

I will disagree with your Keira Knightley comment, but was surprised she was nominated.

Very surprised Ziyi Zhang (sp) from Memoirs of a Geisha wasn't included. She was up for a SAG and Golden Globe. - Steph

It won't be on the BBC, to be honest Sky are the 'Chelsea' of television in this country. When they bid for something they are unlikely to lose.

Yeah, I should think it'll be free to air on other satellite services. Needless to say, they won't be at 28.2E. If you can rotate your dish for the night, 13E or 19.2E, perhaps? :D

I like the Oscars and last year I was determined to watch the thing in full, no highlights or obvious cuts where something was edited out. We ended up paying for the Sky movies package for a month (complete with Disney channels) the day before they were on. It didn't cost that much extra and it was automatically taken off after the four weeks. We'll just do that again this year to see them on Sky movies.

I might have to go home for that weekend just so I can watch the Oscars since my parents have Sky Movies and I don't. I think 4 hours each way on the train and
