The Oscar Nominees for Best Animated Film of 2007 Are...

Surf's Up isn't THAT out in left field. It's not like Beowulf made the cut. Besides, Surf's Up is several times better than Sony Animated Picture's last attempt, Open Season.

Somehow I feel that the only reason that Sony got a nomination was because they wanted to spite Dreamworks. I am almost not surprised the Simpsons didn't make the cut, since it was a movie based on a TV show. Though I really wish it was.

And if they're going for a "What the?!" nomination, they could have picked a hundred things better than Surf's Up. I will say if TMNT got the nomination, I'da blown a happy gaskett.

Still, Penguins are tired. i used to love them (Us Muppet fans were loving penguins long before these CGI films, Sonnyboy), but now them flightless waterfowl are as obnoxious as monkeys are.

And I'm glad Rat also got best screen play. I mean, much better than the same Bohemian whine fest that usually gets nominated.

I mentioned that at the Disney forum. Hopefully this won't effect future shorts.

Anyhoo, I wish people would stop accusing the Academy that they didn't pick this movie over that for some reason other than the fact that the film was better. It's annoying.

What!? HOW DARE THEY  !? Well, not too suprised that the Simpsons didn't make it. It was just "Homer-makes-mistake", expect with better writing and funnier.

This is weird, I tell you, how on Earth does something obscure like Persepolis get a BAF nomination while the juggernaut that was The Simpsons movie didn't?
