Was Spironolactone! I tried all the anti-biotics, bcp, lotions, potions, creams, masks, strips, food elimination, etc...! However, I did not try Accutane! I did some research on Spiro a couple of years ago, and asked my doctor to prescribe it to me. Well I have been 98% clear since. (Be patient, it did take about 2 weeks to see a difference!) I still get an occassional blemish from time to time, but nothing like before (cystic acne)! I now have a very simple skincare routine....Dove soap to wash my face...am and pm, and an oil free moisturizer! That's it! I can even leave the house without makeup now! I have had no side effects from this medication! Please consider looking into it!

I can't get spiro, but I'm taking saw palmetto it's working really good at reducing my oilyskin. I saw results the second day I started using it.

I have had no side effects from spiro! I have been on it for almost 2 years now! (this January)!

Kesae~Even though I have had success with spiro, I still have oily skin. You mentioned that saw palmetto has helped with your oily skin. How many mg's do you take daily and have you had any side effects? Out of curiousity, why can't you get spiro?

Yes, Sprio can be very effective for most women. But in all honesty, for the VAST majority of women it takes anywhere from 3 to 4 months to see results. Many have initial breakouts from it (I know my daughter did). You have to start out slow and up your dosage as you go along. I'm not disputing that it worked for you after only 2 weeks, I just wanted people to understand that your response time doesn't happen for many women taking Sprio.

And only women can take Sprio because it blocks androgens which is a male hormone...

How many mg of Spiro are you taking? The Doc only prescribed me 25 mg, plus I am taking Yasmin.

I've been on it for a month and have lost a few pounRAB. I think that it's because I've been so thirsty that I am getting full on water instead of snacks/soda. I definitely feel thinner too(I used to feel bloated some days, especially around my period or depending on what I ate) but I think that this is because it is impossible to keep water weight on as it is a diueretic. I have also been watching what I eat because I def. feel more of the side-effects of spiro when I eat fooRAB high in potassium/salt.

I have been taking 320 mg of saw palmetto. That is two capsules a day. I might take more than that later on but I see a difference while taking 320mg.

I'm tired of seeing different doctors who won't prescribe it so I decided to use saw palmetto. I like it b/c it doesn't have the side effects that spiro produces.

I am on 100mg a day and no birth control! I started on 50mg and saw some improvement, but I wanted to up the mg's. My doctor was happy to write the new prescription for me! By the way it is a very cheap medication, even if you don't have insurance!
