...Christian practice between man/woman? My question: Why, then, is America still basing its laws off of a religion? (Christianity)
They pretty well say, then, that if you want benefits, you must participate in these religious practices. Why can't the government use civil unions as the leading "marriage"/joining of a couple for benefits and etc? A civil union would no longer be only a joining of homosexual couples but heterosexual as well. Civil Unions would apply to all American couples. It would be for those who are not Christian(and so shouldn't participate according to Christians). Apparently, only Christians should have rights to be joined and receive benefits.
We know that Christianity is certainly not the only religion in America anymore...Government should have nothing to do with faith.
