The Omen question

I went to school with the guy who played Damien in The Omen (he was a couple years below me). He's naturally blonde and had to have his hair dyed for the part. Even though I know it's him, I can't watch that movie without getting freaked out.

Sorry for OT. :)

TBH I quite enjoyed it. I found it grabbed my attention more than the previous Omen did. The acting/atmostphere and locations were all very good.

Sam Neill was very good in the lead I thought. The only letdown was the ending. It just fizzled out.

The ending of III was dire

All that guff about needing to use all the knives to kill him and he gets killed by one while being distracted by the appearance of Jesus. Christ alive!

The Omen is one of my fav film of all time so I bought the re-make when it was in the bargain bin... turns out the bin was the right place for it! Despite having a half decent cast it was a very poor almost scene-by-scene copy of the original with nothing new or original to add. Even where it deviated slightly - scooter instead of tricycle, it felt half hearted. They destroyed one of the best scenes in the original when they take Damien to a wedding at Guildford Cathedral. In the remake they just use some random church which has zero visual impact. Grrrr... really, really dissappointing.

One question I have for anoyone who has seen the remake... where is the Ambassador's residence located? It appears to be a rural location but you can quite clearly see the London Eye in the near distance. I can't think of anywhere in central London that fits the bill so wondered oif it was a lame attempt to indicate where the place was (may as well have had Big Ben & St Pauls in attendance for good measure).

There are elements of Omen III I really like. Sam Neil taunting Christ on the cross in his inner sanctum is a great scene. The Ambassador setting up his suicide is one of the better death's in the trilogy.

It puzzled me too. According to the extras most (if not all) of the film was filmed in the Czech Republic:confused: Gawd knows where the ambassador's residence was then.

I watched the re-make last night and was quite disappointed TBH. Even the beheading was not as good. They script followed the original almost word-for-word! Gregory Peck & Lee Remick would be spinning in their graves!
