The Omen 666 - out on 6th/6/2006

Well i am sure alot of you are aware of this remake of the omen, and its obvious that they where going to use a date that has 666 in it, to make it sound even more creepy. But is anyone looking forward to this film? i am, but i dont think it will be good like the original, i dont know maybe i am just a negative person, but if you like more details about this film please visit this site ~ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0466909/ i hope this film doesnt flop, because i have been waiting a long time to see it, has anyone else?.
 
i doubt anyone has been waiting 'a long time' to see yet another lame remake of a classic horror film. they only decided to make it towarRAB the end of last year.
 
I totally agree - over the last few years Hollywood has had to resort to trawling back through the 70's and early 80's for half-decent horror flicks to bastardise and let's be honest - destroy. I think they should have known that the rot would set in as soon as the released the remake of 'Psycho'. Personally I tend to stay away from remakes as you know what's going to happen and I find myself constantly making mental references to the original and comparing key scenes to see if they play out better or worse. What's happened to the so-called new writing talent that's supposed to have reached Hollywood. I think the film makers and the film companies should start to try and find new avenues to explore instead of reversing down old ones and making a complete mess of it
 
I've seen this remake and I have to say I was so relieved that they haven't made a pigs ear of it. In fact they've made a decent job of it and stanRAB up well alongside the original. Liev Schreiber is superb, as is Mia Farrow. Well paced, well directed, well done. Not perfect but well worth a look. Nicely sinister with a few genuinely good scares.
 
I'm just not sure if I want to go and see something that is supposed to be so faithful to the original. If you remake, then jazz it up a little, which as far as I'm aware, they haven't really done. It's like cover versions of songs - don't do it, unless you're going to change it a little.
 
i saw all the adverts for this and though great i watch the orig in the cinemea on this date and didn't even know about the remake... when i found out i decided to save my money

what's the point we know what will happen and it can't be as good as the original anyway
 
It's got a good cast but I agree, if they haven't changed it that much what's the point?
Mind you if you're a Shakespeare purist and you like Hamlet, you'd expect each version you watch to be very similar in order to get enjoyment from it. Not that I'm comparing The Omen to Shakespeare mind you...
 
I know what you mean, but you also want a slightly different interpretation of it, a different way of playing the characters, and maybe some interesting direction rather than a shot for shot, move for move remake.
 
I will goto see it on the 6th, although not really that much looking forward to it, I think it will be a flop. But with a cineworld pass then I may aswell go!

I disagree about the kid in the trailer, I dont think he looks scary/creepy at all.
 
I hated the teaser for this film in the cinema.

And as for the shot-by-shot approach to it, well that's fine if someone hasn't seen the original, but it's more an insult to the original, if there's tiny, slight differences. Like Gus Van Sant's remake of Pyscho. Not sure why the hell anybody considered Vince Vaughn for that role, but the whole masturbation scene was so out of place, considering almost every other scene of the movie stayed loyal to the original.
