The Official Smashing Pumpkins/Billy Corgan Thread

Well he may, but Corgan won't be looking for a band I don't think. I'm assuming it will largely be session based. That bassist might be a woman but at that point does it matter?

If he doesn't get a woman, he's going to get someone who doesn't give a ****. Might be nice for him to pick up Oliveri (sp?) but thats a no-chance hypothetical.

According to digg.com....

Nice one. 44 tracks is a lot though, but even if they're not all great i'm sure there will be some cracking songs in them :D

Siamese Dream is a tough one to beat. Although dont listen to me since im incredibly biased. SD is my favorite Stoner Rock/Alt Rock album ever.

Very true. Billy's gonna release 44 songs. I can't possibly imagine all of those 44 songs being quality material. But if there's a single album worth of material in those 44 songs i'll be happy enough.

Yeah there's a fair bit of filler on Melon Collie, especially on CD2. They could have narrowed that album down into a pretty sweet single album.

So, anyone heard of this new Smashing Pumpkins 44-track album that's going to be released one track at a time, for free? It's called Teargarden by Kaleidyscope. They will sell 11 separate 4-track EPs and then a box set of them all. I'm definitely not a Smashing Pumpkins fanboy, though I was a big fan in the early-mid 90s and still enjoy the early stuff up to and including Adore. I didn't enjoy the last few albums and don't expect to like much from this. Particularly as this may as well be solo Billy Corgan, since no original merabers are participating. However, it still interests me to at least hear the songs at least once.

The first track was released this week.

Track Listing:

EP 1
1. "A Song for a Son"

Tonight Tonight and 1979 are still among my favorite tracks on the album. I mean of all the Mellon Collie songs why pick those out? Are they really worse than We Only Come Out at Night and Love?

I'm learning Here Is No Why. I like Jellybelly (believe that is the name I don't want to go look) Zero, and Muzzle to name a few. I believe they are supposed to have a reunion tour this year. *wets self in thought of them playing live and seeing them*

TheFutureErabrace has got to be one of the most remarkable, stunning, sublime albums ever composed in music history. Such profundity of lyrical content. Corgan's a genius and I won't hear anybody saying otherwise.

Yea i completely agree with you. Thats why I am a big vinyl pusher. Most being sold as full albums that people appreciated. But companies quickly realize its cheaper and makes more to release singles.

Also another thing I dislike is people who complain about new albums coming out when only some of the band is left, like the Pumpkins newest (Zeitgeist). I mean ****, people die, disagree, and banRAB change. There is nothing anyone can do about it. To say an artist should not release something under the same band name because a meraber isnt there is a load of bull****.

First song I head was Cherub Roek and thought it was amazing. They are a great heavy band. My favorite song is Everlasting Gaze. It gives me shivers when I hear the guitars.

"the bald-headed Corgan said"

Sry lol.

Yeah I think Corgan realized that he wasn't going to get enough fans working as a soloist.
I sooo wish the pumpkins would reform, that would be amazing.

I'm still planning to buy TheFutureErabrace though... :hphones:

I actually also like tonight, tonight... it was different to most songs that you hear with the orchestral arrangement that goes along with it.

What do you think, Smashing or Zwan?

I would appreciate it if you would stopping trolling Rainerd. He/she/it hasn't done anything, that I am aware of, that would lead to your obsessive following of him/her/it into every thread to bitch about him/her/it "trolling" when it is in fact you who are trolling him/her/it.
