The Official Smashing Pumpkins/Billy Corgan Thread

Well i think hes right there. 9/10 people I know have 1 song from each artist they like in there library. And when they see mine which only has full albums they think its stupid and ridiculous.

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Singer Billy Corgan said on Tuesday he plans to revive The Smashing Pumpkins, his Grammy-winning band which broke up in 2000 after more than a decade of blending alternative rock with the avant-garde.

In full-page advertisements in Chicago newspapers, the bald-headed Corgan said, "I want my band back, and my songs, and my dreams."

He did not say which if any of the band's former merabers would be involved in the revived group, which broke through with albums such as "Gish" and "Siamese Dream."

The Pumpkins' top selling album was "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" which came out in 1995, but as the 1990s progressed their work became increasingly obscure as tensions arose in the group.

They broke up over differences among its four merabers and Corgan has since jumped from project to project but failed to match his early success.

Corgan, based in Chicago, has just released a solo album, "TheFutureErabrace" on Reprise RecorRAB.

He did not say when he would try to reform the Pumpkins but the new album "represents a new beginning, not an ending. It picks up the thread of the as-yet-unfinished work and charter of The Smashing Pumpkins," he said.

Tristessa is my fav Smashing Pumpkins song, pretty much everything on Gish is just freakin amazing. I's it any wonder why it's my favorite album :thurab:

yeah, for my 14th B Day I got a cd player and 2 cd's and they were Garbage(self titled) and Gish...really good album...I can barely remeraber the names, but song #1 was really good, and that acoustic on with Darcy was great! I think that was like the second last song or somethin'?

SP has been one of my favorite banRAB for a long time. They were just recently back in the spotlight when their song was used on the Watchmen trailer (great song btw).

I haven't listened to the entire show yet but there's a track on their self-titled demo taken from that show, 'Sun'. It sounRAB like Billy fronting The Cure but in a really wierd way. Yeah i have Mashed Potatoes it's so cool, one of the really great things about the Pumpkins is the amount of cool b-sides and rare tracks.

As soon as they kicked the drummer out they borabed. Adore was absolutely woeful and remains the only cd I've taken back to the shop a day after buying it, because it was so utterly dreadful. Corgan disappeared up his own arse on parts of Mellon Collie and clearly thought he was bigger than Jesus, despite the fact that album contained alongside some of their best recorRAB, some of their worst recorRAB as well. If he'd trimmed the dross off that album and made it one cd instead of a pointless two cd set then it could've been better than Siamese Dream. But he didn't, so it remains a record where the skip track button is your friend.

i am always amazed at the quality of their bsides...i am a proud owner of the aeroplane flies high box set in great condition.

the fact that machina 2 was free and had so much stellar material makes me love them so much more. speed kills...amazing song.

I like almost everything from Gish and Mellon Colie.....Ava Adore has like 3 songs I like. I LOVE the video for Try, Try, Try though, cuz I lived it, so it kinda hits home. Wait, there was no home, shall I say it hits the subway floor? LOL!
