The Official Smashing Pumpkins/Billy Corgan Thread

Oh yeah, it is by far one of their most underrated albums. Behold the Nightmare and For Martha are two of the Pumpkins best songs.

Bullet is indeed a fine song - and perfect for those really stupid days when you feel completely pissed off, yet trapped by something.... ie work or whatever it is making you feel like something of a "rat in a cage"... hehehe.

Really, though, great album to blast out of the stereo and let go of all that rage!

I like the new song 'Song For A Son' but i just don't see it as the Smashing Pumpkins. It just feels like Billy Corgan solo material or Zwan Mk II. The Smashing Pumpkins used to be my favourite band but Billy and his ego destroyed all that. However i try to be an open-minded guy so i will download most of the new songs as they are released and give them a listen, there's bound to be at least 10 songs that are great on their own terms, but i will pretty much hear them as Billy Corgan's solo project.

The greatest group in Alt history, and my personal favorite. Seeing as how I could list every song they've ever performed in the exact order of their appeal to me (last being Take Me Down, naturally, as James Iha simply doesn't have a rock voice), I'll spare you and simply list my favorites from each studio album.

2. I Am One
3. Siva

Siamese Dream
1. Disarm
2. Spaceboy
3. Mayonaise

...Blah, that's quite a list no matter how I put it. Just spreading the Pumpkin love!

I think the whole see sawing fortunes of the Smashing Pumpkins has taken a toll on Corgan somewhat, but Zeitgeist was a valiant and even somewhat successful attempt at wiping the slate clean and starting from scratch - it kept the formula simple, but recogniseable, similar to what we know, but not a carbon copy of it...

It was a conservative dip in the water after getting slam dunked by a tsunami sized wave...

I am betting that after getting back into the water and getting his feet wet we might see a less conservative approach...

I sure hope so, because when he is rampantly creative, it sure yeilRAB some damn good music...

Yeah Soma is pretty wild. I think Adore was a good album .as well I think people don't like ti because of the sudden change of style, but all in all its a moving album. It's nothing compared to Siamese Dream but they were different albums anyways.

The two I mentioned, for me, have nothing to do with their popularity. I just never liked them. I always thought Bullet With Butterfly Wings was ok but I admit I like it a bit less now from having heard it so much. It's almost become a cliche. And while radio overplay does not make a song good or bad (one would be silly to think so), it can affect your enjoyment of it in a big way.

Adore is a very underrated album. Yes it is completely different to their early stuff but Perfect, Behold! The Night Mare and For Martha are just beautiful and are some of the best songs Billy has ever written.

High five!

I actually quite like most of Adore. With a bit of fat trimmed (for length, mostly) it would be a really solid IMO. As is I still consider it very good.

Yea its pretty good. Id have to say though Life Begins Again, Loki Cat, and Love is Real all standout.

They havnt released anything else have they? Because I was looking around and this was all I could find.
