The Official Rage Against The Machine thread

Exactly - that's why I see no problem with it. I certainly don't think it makes them contrived. And that is also the very thing which alienates certain fans who like the musical component but really can't tolerate the message.

boo boo... how many time have you listened to ANATO today?

As far as Morello depending on effects to get his point across, so what... that's what the music calls for. I don't wanna hear acoustic guitar in a Rage song, so his ability on an acoustic means nothing to me.

Granted they are two entirly differnt banRAB/Styles, you arn't garenteed to like both if you like one. Rage is my fav. Problems I have with Audio Slave ....
First, Chris, despite a great live show, seems to spend more time showing off his voice than writing his lyrics.
Second, There are a few places on the audio Slave Cd where you can actualy hear cut and past ops or
Fx insertions.... Thats just a shame, granted they put it out fast, but seriously, thats rookie. (I still enjoy AS, this is not a condemnation)

As far as Rage break up....that display by Tim at the MTV thing certainly didn't help.... There was also a good Interview witht Tom and Tim (I think those two) in a back issue of Guitar World>

Bring Em Back Alive being the best of course.

Rage were cool, I like their self titled the most, but then doesn't everybody.
Zach De La Rocha was supposed to be doing his own solo career after RATM but I haven't heard anything since. Tom Morello is awesome, apparently all the wee tricks he does are quite easy but his actually playing and style are great none the less. And I love their bass player Tim, he is the best of his time.

Favourite songs: Killing In the Name Of
Know Your Enemy
Bullet In Your Head
Housin
Bulls On Parade

and heaps more but I can't think right now.

Lyrics are not a make a break for me, if I like a banRAB lyrics (and in this case I do like RATMs lyrics but I wont defend it as being anything special) then thats great, that makes me like the band a little more.

But if the lyrics are bad and the music is still great then I could care less. I love Van Halen and Guns N Roses and I think thats all that neeRAB to be said.

Though as a proggie I also love ELP. A band who has written lyrics such as "Can you believe, God makes you breathe.
Why did he lose six million Jews."

So would i if someone did that to my car. I just wanna live basically slates what you've just put. regard the lyrics to that chum.
