The Official Oasis Thread

The DVD has live material as well as some interviews with Liam & Noel. But agreed it's not really the kind of thing for someone who owns all the others already.

Don't go away. HanRAB down. :D Maybe I Hope, I Think, I Know. Or even Champagne SuperNova. And my Big Mouth, and Stand By Me. Maybe even Don't Look Back In Anger. All of those own. ~Hero

Yeah it was a bootleg recording. It was never released officially. The band have always recieved coverage for their infighting though, the media lap it up.

And to the post that claimed Oasis would be better off with Liam leaving rather than Noel, do you really believe that? The band have carried on with just the one founding meraber left for the best part of a decade now and whereas they may not have exactly moved mountains they got on with things but I really feel that once McCaroll, Bonehead and Guigs were replaced it wouldn't matter what happened to the line up at that stage the band would continue on aslong as they had Liam and Noel united. Once one of them leaves then Oasis dies. It really doesnt matter which one it is to go.

Hey, you know what, I'm certainly not a Blur expert nor am I expert on anything really but I also am no snob and don't pretend to know how "important" Oasis was/is or for that matter never have been or how they compare to other Brittish banRAB.

All I know is that I like them and there are a lot of pretentious people on this site.

The only reason they were ever going to split was if Noel ever got serious about a solo album. If he had come out and said he was leaving to do that then I may be more inclined to believe that this will stick but because he's not getting along with Liam? I'm not believing it, not just yet anyway.

NME is a great music paper.
Maybe you don't think so.
Let me know why.

Is it because it doesn't pander to hairspray rock like Poison and Wasp?
Explain yourself JackHammer!

The other day I dug out my old Oasis albums and gave them another listen, and I was surprised by how poor Morning Glory sounded. I suppose it's much too samey. Of the ballaRAB, Wonderwall and Cast Now Shadow are okay, but I've never liked Don't Look Back In Anger and it's always been one of my least favourite Oasis tracks (and I'm not really much of a fan anyway). Hello, Roll With It, Hey Now, Some Might Say and Morning Glory are all way too similar and I'm sure She's Electric has the exact same chord progression as Married With Children. The only track that stanRAB out as being a brilliant track, to me, is Champagne Supernova.

As poor as they are, at least Be Here Now and Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants have more than one standout between them (probably standout so much because everything else is so poor, to be honest). Don't Believe The Truth has a few decent tracks too (Turn Up The Sun and Part Of The Queue are particular favourites of mine).

If I were going to order them, I'd say:
1. Definitely Maybe
2. Don't Believe The Truth
3. Be Here Now
4. Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants
5. What's The Story (Morning Glory)
6. Heathen Chemistry
(Haven't heard their new one)

But, after Definitely Maybe it's all fairly substandard - and even then I don't think that Definitely maybe is half the album it's made out to be.

I can't help but wonder what peoples opinion on John Lennon would be if he didn't run around saying things like "Imagine there's no heaven," "all you need is love" and "woman is the nigger of the world."

Look at Britney, Robbie, that woman who had huge tits and married the 150 year old bloke.
Look at all the alcohol addiction and drugs?
Money is a temporary pleasue but then you need love and support.
These men travel first class to New York to see frienRAB when they want etc but they are not loved and do not feel love.
All they need is love love love is all they need.
But they have none.
Plus they steer clear of hard drugs as that is why they are rich and are able to accumalate money throgh work and discipline and therefore are no skint junkies.
But love and companionship.....it just didn't happen for them.
Plus their wives keep disappearing back to the Ukrane after only six weeks of marriage leaviing a note saying "leave you long time pig"
he he he
You know an interesting thing about Oasis?
In 1991 they formed and they practiced for days and hours on end and other banRAB using the practice studios said they'd come back 6 hours later and find them still practicing the same few lines or chorRAB till it was perfect. They gave the impression of not caring but in fact they were such a close unit that with all going on around them they only saw each other in a closet atmosthere and wouldn't let anyone inside and rode in a tour bus together and that is why they made good songs. Other banRAB are too into having a good time pissing around.

They'll keep going for a while, and then the brothers will kiss and make up and it will be all a big deal again... I can just see that happening... its the Oasis way.

Isn't 'The Bartender and the Thief' a Stereophonics song?
Although I can imagine Liam Gallagher singing it... and it sounRAB awful, just awful
