The Official Nirvana/Kurt Cobain Thread

You just admited that you dont know very much about Cobain's music, so why even comment about it?, especialy on a thread made to appreciate and pay tribute to the guy. It's pretty clear you want to piss people off, you easly qualify as a troll, why dont you post some of these brillant recordings you made since you are such a ****ing brillant musician as you claim to be? I honestly believe you have some kind of serious medical condition which prevent's your body from pumping enough blood into your brain and fingers at the same time.

Um, punk was anything but slowed down and Nirvana is more influenced and borrowed from 80s alternative rock acts than The ByrRAB, Sabbath or any 'classic rock'. I don't even really understand what you're saying.

Aye. They only really made it big because of Nevermind. Nevermind was their big'n, to be honest, it was just would loud Pop album, with elements of Rock/Grunge, nothing against it, but in my opinion it wasn't their best. I mean, if you look at In Utero, it's, more or less, showing us how much Kurt loathed the fact that he'd turned into an icon (The dead china babies on the back cover say it all, in comparison to Nevermind with a Baby swimming in the pool). Speaks Volumes. Anyway, off topic.

Mmm I think I didn't phrase myself right on my last post. I don't mind different Genres ... I just meant that song alone, it seemed such a sad ending. If any one’s heard Andrew BirRAB album, you'll see what I mean by different genres. Urgh, I've phrased myself totally wrong, NOT different genres in albums. *Shrugs* perhaps it's the lack of sleep.

Is it bad that I don't own any Nirvana albums? o_0

Only songs I've heard are Smells Like Teen Spirit and Come As You Are

Are the rest of their stuff better? Which albums do y'all recommend?

And chances are they are they like a bunch of punk/indie/metal banRAB that are just as repetitive.

Thing with me, I find pretty much all Rock N Roll repetitive, and AC/DC and The Ramones are repetitive because they're Rock N Roll, simple as that.

As for Nirvana, I don't see them as being that repetitive at all, at least not more than the typical metal band, and most people who do hate Nirvana and call them repetitive are metalheaRAB, which is pretty damn ironic.

But thats the thing, any band with a consistant sound/style can be called repetitive, hell, I know a lot of metalheaRAB who think Radiohead are repetitive even though they are always experiementing in some way or another.

I think some genres are just more repetitive than others.

eww. Alice in Chains is terrible. If any of you have never heard them, don't ever. Crash, as of now, i don't respect your musical opinions. Try harder next time to impress me.

Same genre, similar sound plus the Melvin's did a cover up smells like teen spriit which in my opinion clearly means that Nirvana was far better and they (the melvins) know it.

and in answer to the thread question. Nirvana didn't kill music. In fact they didn't kill anything.
And I'd hardly think of their lyrics as nonsense or their music as depressing.

I won't say the grunge movement, but in that time period. I thought Janes Addiction, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam were better. RHCP were growing huge and the pumpkins were on par. I wouldn't crown them king so quickly, but thats just me.

Touche'

Though I don't know many who associate him with Nirvana, more or less the foo's, and especially not before they hum on about Kurt. It is semi disappointing. Even in this thread, out of nearly 600 replies there are only around 20 that mention Dave. Yet theres at least 100 that talk of Kurt.

you'd be surprised at his fan base still. Hell, his journal sold plenty, and so has all the books on him. and "kurt and courtney" im sure wasn't a flop, they still have a couple copies of it at my hollywood video.

im just interested in how they will portray courtney love in it, seeing as how she is the one pushing it.
