The Official Nirvana/Kurt Cobain Thread

Trust me, you don't need Incesticide.
The only good tunes (in my opinion) on that are "Molly's Lips", "Aneurysm", "Big Long Now", "Aero Zeppelin", and "Sliver".

If you need another album I advise you to purchase In Utero.
But I mean you don't even really need to buy more albums.
All the $hit is on the [less]$800[or more] box set pretty much.

:hphones:

really good post actually, but it was hard to read - try paragaphing? not being a grammar nazi or anything but the way you wrote that does make it almost impossible, painful even, to read. but yeah, the content was really good I felt.

I don't think In Utero was necessarily any less 'over-produced' than Nevermind. Both had really slick production. Not that I think that's a bad thing - I think the heavy, intricate production aesthetic boded well with Nirvana's songs.

But I don't think that a kid looking at boobs or talking about music in on the FBI's list of priorities. Maybe the terrorist stuff until they see what website it is.

From what I can remeraber of the whole situation, there were no cover-up or conspiracy theories the first few days or even the first few years after it happened. I think that's because no one was really surprised that he did it. I was a little shocked and definitely saddened, but I don't think anyone was looking around saying, "Kurt Cobain,..............suicide?, Wait, no, there's definitely something wrong here.'

Radiohead do have several influences (including one band that you so despise)... Everything from Can to The Smiths to The Beatles to Talking HeaRAB to Miles Davis, and more some.

But how i look at it, every influence counts in some way, big or small, and it plays at least some kind of role in what the music will sound like, the reason RadioheaRAB musical style is so disperate is because they have a disperate amount of influences, if they only had just one big influence, you would have noticed.

And all i ever said was that Nirvana were a influence, not one of their biggest influences or one of their most important, you guys are taking what i said way out of context.

All major record labels care about is making money. Money means selling lots of recorRAB, selling lots of recorRAB means appealing to a wide audience, and appealing to a wide audience means writing watered down, catchy, easily digestible drivel. Generally, banRAB that join mainstream record labels and try to fight this don't stay on major record labels very long. Besides, caring more about the music has nothing to do with sharing it with as wide an audience as possible. Call me an elitist, but I'd rather make exactly the music I want to make and appeal only to a very small audience who seek out original music, than streamline my music so I can get it to more people.

Maybe. I am open minded, but keeping in mind that Grant is a vulgar idiot.
His whole murder theory, and that TV Documentery (I think, or it was a book?) that he made looked to me like a way to capatalize on his knowing Cobain personaly, and his death.

I hope I'm thinking of the right Grant?

Anyway, I don't care how he died, or even that he died, the music is great nontheless. :)

I couldn't vote seeing as I couldn't decide on one song... I was leaning towarRAB come as you are, rape me, and heart shaped box...

LoaRAB of people could sing along to S club 7 if they wanted , does that make them iconic?

And how is his music better now? By having a flashy guitarist?

If anyone would rather listen to No Rest For The Wicked over Paranoid or Volume 4 i'd seriously question their judgement after i'd stopped laughing.
