The Official Nirvana/Kurt Cobain Thread

ok in my opinion...kurt cobain was murdered by that slag of a woman cournet love...in my mind she has got to be the most evil bitch around...i think she wrote that suicide note and then shot poor kurt...kurt loved his music and fans...he wouldnt have done something that stupid wen he was at the highlight of his life. I think that Courtney Love just wanted him out of the way so she could take his well hard earned money and use it for her drug problem which she still hasnt kicked...stupid b*tch deserves to rot in hell 7 lifetimes over i think...if i offended anyone im very sorry but everyone has the right to say his/her opinion and this is just wat i think...thankyou

Nirvana is a decent enough band, but nothing remarkable, speaking strictly from a musical perspective. Way overrated.

I used to own In Utero & Nevermind ages ago and listened to them extensively back in the early/mid-nineties, but I eventually got tired of them, not to mention every other band that came out sounding the same.

True, they broke up the vacuity of the mid- and late-80s music, but in exchange for what? A different set of lemmings?

And ever since then, what was previously known in the States as "alternative" has baffled me-- whereas "alternative" music in the 80s had a great amount of diversity, now it was all the same sounding crap, the same bloody formula.

While it is true that Nirvana was big back in the day, Nirvana would have probably been more seen as a passing fad today if Cobain had not killed himself. His suicide sealed the deal, making him a rock demi-god when there really wasn't much to show for it except hype.

All the testosterone driven banRAB of the 90s made me eventually switch off from the radio entirely. It astounRAB me though that banRAB like Nickleback can exist-- in the year 2007. Let's move on folks. There's more to music than more testosterone driven drivel-- a little variety would be nice, you know.

Thats right folks! She got all her music after she became a widow and now shes selling nirvana's catalogue more here. I hope either Novoselic or Grohl get it..cause if i hear smells like teen spirit being butcher by avril or on a commercial, i will hate that crack whore forever.

it's not such a simplistic situation as it's made out to be in that post. He had other parts of his life not connected to the band or with their rising popularity. plus everyone reacts to things differently, you can't possibly try to determine any sort of cause when dealing with suicide (for the sake of this discussion, the possibilty of murder is ruled out). there's way too many factors to be able to give an explanation.

Wow, another Nirvana thread. That's great, considering we only have a thousand of them in each forum. Might as well make it a thousand and one, right?
I'm glad you guys find the worRAB "music" and "nirvana" synonymous, in the mean time, I'll be looking for banRAB that i havent been ass-raped with for over a decade.

No? Where did you hear that? He just about murdered a reporter for taking Love's worRAB out-of-context and stating that she used heroin knowing she was pregnent with FB (Frances Bean).

He and Love had their problems, but he loved her. In fact, just months before his death he was interviewed and stated that he was "The Happiest he's ever been" because of his family.

well i did a hell of alot of research into this as i did a piece of art on him for my exam.
i believe he was murdered, it is quite clear on the map of the crime scene that he was murdered aswell.
his frienRAB say that he wasnt suicidal, but the police never took it far enough, so i guess we will never no!

1. It's not about sticking to their style. Kurt Cobain overdid many things as far as their song structure went.

2. I never said I disliked depressive atmosphere. But you can only make so many songs before it becomes too much.

3. I'm fine with Kurt Cobain relentlessly ranting about them in his logs, annoying as it may be. When he tries to write songs in their form of lyrical style, it sort of makes me get the impression he's a bit dependant, but I'll let it slip. When he goes as far as to hire Steve Albini the producer of Pixies' "Surfer Rosa" for In Utero, in hopes of achieving a closer sound to that said Pixies album, he is trying way too hard.
