The Official Nirvana/Kurt Cobain Thread

In total agreement with your assessment of both Grohl and Novoselic. With the Foo Fighters Dave Grohl continued in the spirit of Nirvana, but in a very positive and life affirming way. They were kind of like a alternative Nirvana in a much happier universe.

I certainly hope so, I dont want to see anyone condone suicide. Again i have doubts that Cobain really killed himself, but if he did, there is no excuse for it, suicide is a cowardly and stupid thing to do. I don't mean to be insensitive but thats how i feel. But it pisses me off to see this kaldicuck fellow use a man's personal life to bash his music and legacy, cobain was a great songwriter, weither or not he killed himself is irrelevant.

you could have just said 'he sold his soul to the record label' and i would have understood that.

i know all about that but like i said he didn't know what he was getting into when he signed that big deal with them, if he did do you honestly think he would have signed it knowing it would some day drive him to the point of death? (that drove him plus other things), so clearly he didn't realize the full damage of what signing with that record lable would do to him. Yes he changed i never said he didn't, anyone would change having that much fame no matter how much they didn't want to.

The 90's did have a great sound: Alternitive. Nirvana, Alice in chains, Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, I could go on and on and on.

I hate f*cking nickleback! They (and others) are nothing but mere copies of (and not even good copies) Nirvana and ride on they're success.

When you tell me the meaning of Heart-Shaped Box by just listening to it, I might believe you. IMO he was a very good lyricist and an inspiration for me personally as a songwriter. As for his singing, I can't blame you. Many people don't like it, but I do personally.

Radio Friendly Unit Shifter, Stain, touretts, Rape me, I could go on and on.
Cobain really disliked it when the industry messed with his music. He once strummed and sang the opening bars to "Rape me" at the MTV music awarRAB, even though MTV was shocked and appalled at the song, and they tried to force the band to play "Smells like teen spirit". In the end, they muttally settled on "Lithium", but Cobain wanted to the world to get a taste of they're new song.

Honestly, I think this is a great post. And you probably got banned for stating some unpopular opinions. I highlighted some of the comments that I either really liked or got a good laugh out of.

As far as the person who made the Joy Division influence claim, I don't see that at all. Add the Melvins to the above list, and you've got a good group of banRAB that receive far less attention corabined than the collective ejaculation of fanatics who still believe in the Cobain murder fantasy/conspiracy.
