The Official Nirvana/Kurt Cobain Thread

I've noticed when you argue, you say stuff thats kind of contrary to alot of what i've heard/read and you never post actual proof. If you're going to say something ridiculous, at least back it up. Cause it kind of seems like you're pulling this whole arguement out of your ass.

Kurt said himself its better to burn out than fade away, and he was pretty fed up of this world... Most people are so much more famous after an early death which is quite sad really but true.
And as for who killed him, i think it was in him to commit suicide but the facts dont exactly make sense. I choose to leave him be, he made the most of his life when he was here, even if he wasnt the happiest of bunnies he definetly made a mark on the world.

Read the link and there's another about a Seattle musician called 'Last Days', said to be based around Cobains life.

If Courtney pulls this other movie off, I can almost see Brad Pitt as Kurt.

Wasn't that because she gave him a box with hearts on it or something, with a doll inside? I read something like that in a book about him but it was a while ago.

Anyway, I think he's a good song-writer. I don't take his lyrics too seriously though, as they do just seem to be 'rubbish'. Still love Nirvana.

Yes. It's well documented that Kurt had his managers complain to MTV that they werent playing his videos enough. They've all admitted this. Read 'Heavier Than Heaven' and one of Kurt's managers confirms that Cobain would complain about MTV not playing Nirvana enough.

sure contradicts this image of not wanting to be famous, huh?

"Singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain was aware that Nirvana risked alienating its core fanbase of punk and indie rockers with its recent superstardom, and the band chose Steve Albini, a well-respected "recording engineer" (working with the likes of The Pixies, major influences to Nirvana) and meraber of the banRAB Rapeman and Big Black, to record the album." - exerpt of Wikipedia entry for "In Utero"

Ah yeah he didn't have a great voice. And he wasn't a great guitarist. Come to think of it, Nirvana were quite **** at everything, but they are still amazing.

Strange. My favorite song of his is a Bowie cover. Really goes to show my appreciation for his music (or grunge in general)...

On a sidenote, my friend's band released a single entitled "Whatever Happened To Kris [Novoselic]?" I think he's a politician now. What a waste of life...
