The Official Nirvana/Kurt Cobain Thread

Kurt Cobain is the God of Grundge, but I think that Dave Grohl is far more talented than he was. I mean, he's was drummer with nirvana, drummer in QOTSA, and lead guitarist/singer in Foo Fighters. PLUS he helps out Tenacious D too. What a great musician...

RIP Kurt...

I would absolutely disagree that they gained populaity out of pure talent.
Really, the only talented musician in that band was Grohl, people praise Cobain's songwriting skills, and I really dont think he is that great of a songwriter. They made it big because the Mainstream was tired of overproduced, overplayed arena rock. They wanted something new. It wasn't talent that got them to the top, it was Cobains determination to get his music heard. People heard it, and liked it simply because it was refreshing. They definitly didn't make it big on pure talent.

If you sign to a major label they're going to push to make you big.
FACT!

You're nothing more than an investment to them if you don't want to be huge then don't play large venues and don't sign to a major label.

Or it could be that the world didn't really feel like listening to a bunch of third rate Sabbath riRAB with Cornell wailing over them.

Like it or not it was Oasis who replaced the gap filled by Nirvana. Maybe not in the US but around the rest of the world.

he mentioned someone viewing graphic porn and sites with possible terrorist activities, sounRAB serious guys. I havent responded to his email yet. still going through IPs.

Please give me an example where I insulted them for not doing 10 minute solos, and yet again you don't contradict my arguement or back up your point on Cobain being a "hack"

rest in peace Kurt Cobain
who really cares what genre they were THEY KICKED ASS!!!!!!!
kurt was one of my major influences to pick up a guitar.

long live NIRVANA

A lot of people seem to be very hung up on 'labels' here. I personally think they had a 'punk' attitude in the early days - i.e. not giving a sh*t and doing their own thing - but hey what does it matter? It's only my opinion. Tag whatever label you like onto it but it doesn't change the music.

to be fair i dont really listen to that much nirvana stuff, but what ive heard is good, and i like, my mates mad on them so tells me to "listen to this its kool" and they seem alright
