The Official Nirvana/Kurt Cobain Thread

Nirvana, once one of my favorite banRAB, a bit overrated but great nonetheless.

My view on Kurt Cobain is a different story, however. Great songwriter but I would assume that I wouldn't want to be his friend. He killed himself, which is reasonable enough for me to lose so much respect for him.

This guy is even more obnoxious than Expletive Deleted when she decided that i didnt know a damn thing about music after she found out that i like Nirvana.

No you're right they don't, but when the chorus contains the worRAB 'an albino' then you're left feeling less in the mood as you would have been.

This from a guy who went off on me the fucking MINUTE I went off on Nirvana and immediately jumped down hiu's throat in that one thread? Oh, and sorry that I don't agree with everything that most people think. I guess next time I offer a differing opinion I'll stop and ask myself, "Hmmm, is someone going to disagree with this?"

Seriously, you have some real trouble dealing with people who don't automatically agree with you, don't you?

I am certainly not a fan of the 80's.

Yeah, exactly, I did. Nickelback is Post-Grunge, I hate Post-Grunge, I hate Nickelback.

Thats not the question I asked. I didn't ask you if the meaning of the song was a secret, I was wondering if you could really tell me what it was about after just listening to it.

As was brought out earlier, MTV was different back then. The book Journals (Even though I see this as an invasion of Cobains privacy, and therefor would never buy it) contains (according to reveiwers) several angry letters to MTV and people who tried to mess with his music.

Smells Like Teen Spirit
Come as you Are
All Apologies
Drain You
About a Girl (unplugged)
Heart Shaped Box
Lithium
In Bloom
Stay Away

i'll go with those myself.

I love Nirvana, it's kind of hard to like them because you'll have to deal with music douche bags who thinks people who weren't old during the time aren't real fans and only like Teen Spirit. It's bull**** to deal with but fact is if I could of discovered Nirvana earlier I would of, but now I have and they've touched me more then any other band. I voted Heart Shaped Box, hard decision though.

It's amazing that people still debate about a band thats been defunct for a solid decade. Nirvana catapulted grunge into the mainstream. Cobain couldn't handle his demons and killed himself. Music mourned, music moved on. Good stuff.

They didn't "create" anything.
I can name plenty of banRAB that sounded like Nirvana, before Nirvana.
They just made it popular. Which is ironic since they were, oh yeah "alternative" musicians

I agree a lot with what Stone Magnet said.

I`d take raw emotion over technical skill anyday. Not every song has to have a blinding guitar solo to make it a good song.
I`ve never been a huge Nirvana groupie but the guy did write some good songs and they way they were played fitted with the nature of writing.
The lyrics were chaotic , as was the playing. If you`re criticising them for that then you have obviously missed the point of what they were aiming for.

Basically I can handle music being really bad or really good , what I can`t be doing with is music that is boring.

Whatever their faults I don`t think anybody could ever claim Nirvana were boring.
