The Official Metallica Thread

Oh I am sorry, didn't realise this was an elitist forum and there was a certain way to post for people to take notice.

I post a subject asking a question and if people are interested then they join in like people have, simple. It doesn't 'suck'. It develops mate. If you talk about everything in the first post then the rest of the thread is ruined.

How would I have worded this post in your great view to encure that it doesn't 'suck' then?

Well, to be honest, he doesnt have a problem. In fact, he has a lot less of a problem than you. He even used the worRAB "I think" before saying his opinion. You could learn from him y'know... Instead of just insulting everyone left right and center.

in following rust in peace's theme/idea for mega death. this is just as hard, if not even moreso. mine are as follows
one
orion
master of puppets
for whom the bell tolls
four horsemen

until it sleeps and to live is to die got close, but not top 5

I think their new album has got a fair chance of being good. It was said in an interview that it will not be another St Anger and will be more of a return to their old style. Let's hope that's true.

80's Metallica is so boss. Actually so is 90's Metallica. St. Anger is an interesting record. A couple of great tracks mixed in with a bunch of mediocre ones. Coulda been a great EP. I will stand by Some Kind of Monster any day. That song has epic written all over it.

Technically speaking Robert Trujillo is the best bassist and of course any fan of Metallica has a spot for Cliff, but my favorite is Jason Newsted. I was very sad to hear he was leaving the band!

Their isn't a certain way to make a thread, but theirs a certain way to make a GOOD one.
Hence why i said "this sucks" It lacks structure.
You could've given us some of your favorite songs albums among other things.

Not just a weak ass "Any here?"

and after searching i realized we have no threaRAB on just metallica.
My bad.

even after cliff passed they were decent on justice and the black album had a few good moments here and there but anything after 1991 they totally lost it.they cut hair,go alternative, release a covers album, hire a symphony, get mad at fans for downloading, release the crappy sounding st.anger.

however i still think this new album could be a step in the right direction if they put out some good stuff.

I really fail to see how Metallica can't come up with a good album, its a shame, because their current lineup is a really good one. With Robert Trujillo now in the band, and he's a much better bassist than Jason Newsted ever was, not to mention he was in Suicidal Tendencies, who are awesome.

Wow, more people supporting Metallica. Thats what I like to see. I'm am completely stoked for the new album due out this year. And I'll be ready to hit the pit as soon as they start the U.S. tour. Most people say, "Metallica died out a long time ago, they were only popular in the 80's..blah, blah, blah.." Well if you liked them then, why not like them now? Metallica is a great band, their vocals, instrementals, everything about them rock. James is an amazing singer, robert is a kick ass bassist, lars rocks out with the drums, and kirk is the negotiator of the group...All I have to say is Metallica hasn't died out yet. Show some support!

Just so we're clear here Seltzer, I'm not getting in a month long subjective battle. Its clear that the one meraber of Metallica that has branched out more than anyone else is Kirk. I'm aware classical influences were strongly exhibited prior to him, but you are forgetting that Metallica are essentially the Bob Dylan, the Mozart, and the Groucho Marx of metal. Since AJFO, all metal acts pass through Metallica one way or another.

And as far as the "average solos" and "not much left" is concerned, he was the first guitarist inducted in the Guitar World hall of fame as voted on by its readers. You can say thats worth nothing all you want, but they had the option to pick anyone alive or dead (hendrix, page, clapton) and they chose him. This isn't a populist mainstream magazine, its catered to people who play guitar, giving them more than a mild knowledge of the subject.

So lets see, thats me and at least roughly 4000 voting readers against...you. You show me where any of your facts are backed up. To quote the Supplicants, "here the people rule". Well my friend, the people have spoken.

Well......there are greater voices in the metal business...like people with range and skill like russ adams from symphony X....check out the song candlelight fantasia

The new guy is utter rubbish, he is not one of the four horsemen. And now of course lars has left, who i saw as the backbone of the band, which can surely only mean bad news for the rockers
