The Official Metallica Thread

Metallica's seen their peek as a band, now their in it only for money. I haven't heard a song recently that was a good song. They've seen the top now they better make frienRAB with the bottom.

I am a huge metallic fan, im basically obsessed! i love nearly all of metallica's work, even St.Anger (not Load and ReLoad).
i was trawling through my MASSIVE collection of MetallicA songs and bootlegs when i found something called "Frantic (Unkle reconstruction-Artificial confidence)" i thought it would just be a remastered version of frantic, as seen on many youtube videos. but then i listened to it. it re uses some of the lyrics and james' singing and some of the simple melody's of the song, but other than that this is a whole new song. you would not tell it was the rather mediocre Frantic if no one told you, i would recommend a listen to EVERYONE (dont worry, no snare drums!) but because it is such a rare track i have uploaded it to YouTube personally using my account so i can share it. a must for any MetallicA fan, and even non MetallicA fans!
SO here it is (you will have to copy and paste because i haven't got enough posts :P i just felt i needed to share this amazing find!:
because i dont have enough posts, type youtube in your browser then paste the following after it to get to the video.

PS don't anyone start saying Megadeth is better i love megadeth too dont worry! :P

Well you know, it's one of the most well known banRAB. It's cool to like metallica. It makes kiRAB 'alternative'. I think that most of them don't even know Iron Maiden/Dream Theatre either. They don't look further than Nirvana and Metallica as the ultimate.

The only reason i even remotely appreciate St. Anger is because I saw Metllica perform a lot of songs off it about two years ago. It was something of a disappointment for me.

Bit off topic but my mate brought round the Kerrang covers CD yesterday, i didn't know whether to laugh or cry with half of them.

The Metallica one was nice enough, but if it points towarRAB what they'll be doing with the new album i'll find it hard to be excited.

Wow- I'd love to see them live but they never come to Scotland. :( Yeah, MOP is an amazing album but I think Kill 'Em All and Ride The Lightning are just as good! Metallica are so talented- I'm not a fan of their new stuff though.

Bullsh1t, who said it even has anything to do with metal at all? Where have I mentioned any 'kult' metal banRAB? This is about Metallica.

Read my post again - who cares if they play guitar (ZOMG i play geetarz!)? Clearly they haven't heard a wide range of music - I'm not even going to comment again on the Simple Plan cover.

If you show those 4000 readers Circle Takes the Square and the majority think it is utterly atrocious, are you going to snap your CRAB and be done with them?

The "this person says it's good so it must be good" argument is incredibly weak.

So what? I was just adding my own opinion to it. I didn't consider this an argument until you came in antagonizing me with untrue stuff; i.e. metal elitism. If you're going to be a prick, GTFO.

And since I didn't at the time consider this an argument, and seeing as it is the thread for Metallica discussion, I thought an opinion on Metallica might be appropriate. :banghead:

A great solo can add a lot to a song, but not having a solo doesn't take anything away from one. I used to listen to a lot of thrash metal and I loved the lightning-fast guitar solos in every song, but I eventually came to recognize their banality and worthlessness. Putting a guitar solo in a song for the sake of having a guitar solo in the song is a bit ridiculous. So many thrash musicians seem to believe that it's imperative for every one of their songs to have a guitar solo in it, whether or not the guitar solo encompasses any sort of emotion.

An album packed with guitar solos that append nothing is much worse than an album with no guitar solos.

I'd love a good explanation as to how St. Anger is not a metal album.
