The Official Live-Action "Cowboy Bebop" News & Discussion Thread

Not a lot of actresses come to mind for Julia except Gweneth Paltrow. I think she'd be perfect for the role.

And about Yoko Kanno, I know she is the heart and soul of the series, but you guys have to remeraber, this isnt Watanabe's Bebop. This is Hollywood's interpertation of the series, and as sad as I am to admit it, Yoko will probably not have any music in this film. Warner Bros will probably try to market it as a 'Star Wars/Star Trek WITH ATTITUDE' action bonanza, meaning lots of rock/techno music, with one or two poignant/emotional songs/music, probably for Spike's memories of Julia.

Or, they could try to adapt the manga of Bebop, which, to my knowledge, came before the anime, and did not feature Julia or Vicious.
 
Sadly feeling that way won't prevent the movie from getting made if they want to make it, nor will it result in you being anything but angry for an unspecified period of time.

I went through the same thing with Silent Hill when the movie came out, but if you can dettach your fandom from your brain and try to evaluate it on it's own merits, you'll come out a lot less stressed.
 
I don't know about Ballad of the Fallen Angels, but Vicious is the perfect antagonist for a BeBop movie.

Its way too early to get excited, but there's potential if it can get off of the ground.
 
Seriously. The only things that don't work in LA are anthropomorphic stuff like Chimpmunks and Underdog and the more outragious animated works like Looney Tunes. Stuff like Cowboy Bebop and Akira are peices of cake when you have stuff like Star Wars and Lord of the Rings out there.

Cowboy Bebop's one of the easiest Japanese cartoons to make into a live-action movie, especially since it's just an animated John Woo film more or less.
 
Which is precisely why they shouldn't make it .

As a Silent Hill fan, I found the movie rather disappointing. Not to mention they ruined it with all those pointless layers of CG when it looked much better without it
 
The Departed is from America and Infernal Affairs is from Hong Kong, but they're both live-action. Going from animation, especially anime, to live-action, is a lot different, and a lot harder.
 
Basically he's suggesting that a majority of the executives in charge of Fox's film distribution branch will probably get the axe, or get position changes, as the company attempts to redirect their market focus.

Which hopefully means less stinkers being produced and higher quality film adaptations of books/tv shows/comics/anime etc.

They really do need to get some different people in there who know what the hell they're doing, because I agree that a majority of the films they release are mediocre to suck, and they tend to hire talentless hacks to do nerd adaptations.

Hell, how they managed to undermarket Serenity (which has a massive devoted fanbase and word of mouth via Firefly) is beyond me. The thing didn't even make back have the production costs, which is pathetic considering how it could've been a smash with the proper marketing. Though that's just one example out of many.
