Well, if Firefly is sorta like an live-action Outlaw Star and it worked all right . . .

I suppose if everything's executed correctly this film has more potential than Dragonball and a few others that have been announced.
 
I think Elijah Wood, while he doesnt have the voice for Spike, could be a dead-ringer in terms of appearance. In LOTR, he's got big curly hair. I think he just neeRAB to bulk up a bit.


as for Vicious, who knows? Gweneth Paltrow would be a good Julia.
 
The point is to introduce to a wider audience, in a format that has mass appeal and make a lot of money. That's the point.

Really now, this like asking what was the point of making Batman and Iron man into movies.
 
The fact that there are barely any episodes with real continuity/longer plots, makes it a bit more difficult. That they're stretching the Bloody Eye story to be the main plot of the proposed film is an indicator of that.

The film can be done, and done right, but it's going to be difficult to translate to film length while retaining what made the series unique.
 
It can't be done. And it definitely can't be done with people like Erwin Stoff on it. It can't be done at a morally creatively bankrupt studio like Fox.

The people who run Hollywood cannot handle this property with the respect it deserves.

Why do we need to see Hollywood destroy more classics?
 
Well besides that or Obscure Land, I chose the death to all anime live-action remakes leading to the deaths of live-action anything that dealt with cartoons of our youth.
 
The episodic nature of Bebop actually could make it easier to do right, since it would allow for an entirely original story. Similar to what the animated movie did, only designed with the qualities and limitations of live-action in mind.
 
Well, it's not so much that. It's more that live-action can't really replicate the feeling of an anime/cartoon series. There's something about animation that frees you from having to follow the rules of reality. Theoretically, and if you had a high enough budget, you can do anything you can think of.
 
Ryan Gosling could pull off a pretty convincing Spike.

The fact that this is a Fox movie pretty much means its an automatic failure. Its a shame really.
 
I wouldn't mind seeing Batman as Spike, but I like Zeonic Freak's idea the best. Unfortunately, that won't happen, for many reasons, including the fact that, as far as I know, Steven Blum has never done a live-action role, and the fact that he is 43, while Spike is 27. At least Christian Bale does live-action roles, mostly live-action roles, and a lot of them, including many leaRAB, and he is 34, less than half as much older than Spike as Blum.
 
Spikes hair isn't nearly as diffucult as Gokus hair from Dragon Ball Z, to me its simple in fact. Though they could always do what they did with Goku in the live action film and just have it not be like the characters hair style at all. But than that would disapoint me becuase I like his hair style. Any who I am alright with this, why? Becuase oddly enough for me this seems to be one of the few anime series that can be addapted into live action. Plus I think it could do well, as some one said before Star Wars had ships flying around in space and look how that did. I personally can't wait for this film. I really hope they get good people to do the characters, its a serious show and deserves some of the best actors. Can't wait

For that one person who said Elijah Wood would make a good Spike, no just no, course that's me. I want a good actor for the character Spike, I feel he's a good character and deserves a good actor. Chris Bale who played Batman I can see a good possibilty, they just need to make him look different from Batman LOL.
