You know who should play Jet? Thomas Haden Church.

His voice is similar, he's around 50 now, (Jet looks about 50) he got
in-shape for Spider-Man 3, so he definitely has the right build for him too.

All he neeRAB to do is dye his hair black. I know Jet is bald in the show, but I think I can live with him having hair if Church plays the
role.

You haven't answered my question, I'm asking your opinion on matter, there is no right or wrong answer per say.

Hmmm, even though its too early judge, (there have only two Hollywood Manga movies that have made it to production so far) I would say its way easier to make movies out of comics, then manga.

This has to do with differences between comics and manga in terms of storytelling and ascetics. Comic books have a more realistic look too them, the characters look like people in tights, manga characters are very stylized, they tend to look very different from normal people, that makes one of those easier to cast then the others. Plus comic books are based on American characters, there are no cross cultural issues to deal with, most manga characters are supposed to be Japanese, but don't look very Asian. That again makes casting a nightmare. Plus there is the issue adaptability, otakus are much more rigid then comic book fans when it comes to adapting something to big screen, comic book fans are used to their being more then one version of the character vs. otakus who read the manga version and then will complain about every change, no mater how slight.

Now you said live action lives are costly, that is true, but look at the rewarRAB they produce when done well, lots of money for the studios and good movies for the public. the question is, can this same formula work for manga in Hollywood.

Not really. For all we know the teaser will show more of the lanRABcape and a sneak peek of some of the action scenes.

I know we all want a good Cowboy Bebop film but let's face it, Fox won't go out of their way to do a live-action version of any of the intros from the series.

Off-Topic: If Keanu Reeves wants to work on the film, he can be in charge of the choreography or just make a production company so it can have its name on the script so that Reeves will still get some money.

I would like to ask everyone: who would you choose as the ENTIRE cast of Cowboy Bebop?

Y'see, when it comes to Dragonball and CB I don't see a reason to actually make live action films. They're perfectly good as simply being animation. Now we have a film that is nothing like the material it's based on and a film in production based upon an already highly cinematic series. I don't care about mainstream exposure when the soul of the material is crapped on and thrown out the window.

Well, it's a toughie, but..

Spike: Clive Owen
Jet: Michael Clark Duncan
Fey: Nicole Kidman
Ed: Scarlett Johansson

Obviously a cast like this probably won't happen without some major studio funding, so I'm not holding my breathe.

I have never heard of that. Do you know what it was called? I'm sure this film won't look like it's a college project, but it's still live action Bebop.

You are likely correct with Dragonball, however I think there is a little more wiggle room with CB, its more Hollywood friendly and there are way fewer cross cultural issues. It would be far more possible to make CB rather then DBZ into a good movies, depending on who was involved (if Reeves is playing Spike, that is a bad sign).

Here is another big difference between comic book fans and otakus is otakus tend to be far more hostile to hollywood in general, while most comic book fans are generally happy if their favorivite comic is being made into a movie (and will only start complaining after the film makes bad casting decisions, hires a bad director, releases a horrible plot outline or after seeing an awful trailer), Otakus on the other hand complain as soon as they hear about the manga being optioned for a movie.

I mean like BTAS and all, but I didn't think it was so perfect then shouldn't have made Batman begins or Dark Knight. Also look at all the great movies based on books, sure they weren't 100% like the book and the book is almost always better, but there are still good movies based on books. When something is made into a hollywood film, it is an adaption, ususally there have to be some changes to something in order for it to work on screen. Some otakus are mad if the Japanese score from the anime doesn't show up in the film.

This is another reason I don't think manga works well for hollywood films, the fanbase for manga are instantly hostile.
