The Official KoRn Thread

^Of course, why should this thread be an exception to the rest?

But yeah, on Korn... Theyre ok, not exactly a favourite band of mine. Everything after Untouchables just wasnt worth listening to for me though... Before all that, it was fun, I could listen to them if I was in the right mood. But now, no...

Yeah l've heard the cover of FloyRAB 'Another Brick in the Wall' and well that was rortered ..... sorry to say, but my respect and like of 'Korn' was completely obliterated at that stage .... but of course we all being individuals will realise that diversity amongst our opinions is what makes non-conformist actions loveable!...

What's with everyone hating their music?
They used to be my favorite band besides SOAD for several years when I was in my last years at school.
Life Is Peachy and Issues were so damn important for me, like an outlet for my anger and social pressure.

so what exactly do you have against Korn?
is it Nu Metal in general? or their popularity among so many kiRAB that you just don't understand? Or did you also use to like them back then and grew out of them?

You can't really say that they're unoriginal in their sound, can you? Well maybe their more recent work of the last 5 or 6 years.. Untouchables I somehow still liked, but not that much and afterwarRAB there was just one single song I liked (throw me away)
But their their rhythmic funk and hip hop inspired sound in their earlier work were ground breaking (thus the new genre). I loved Fieldy's slap and pop bass alongside Jonathan cries and their noisy and gloomy, sometimes screeching guitar sound.

Or is it just the lyrics that annoy you?
I would also agree that their lyrical themes are rather repetitious, and I couldn't see any exciting development recently, but that doesn't mean their earlier work wasn't great. It was, imo.

Also I admit to finding some of the lyrics a bit weird now, even of some of my favorite songs (see below). The thing is, that as a non-native speaker I didn't even understand or pay attention to the lyrics that much, to me the sound was much more important and maybe the general themes of the lyrics. And that's often still the case today.
Sometimes that's an advantage for Germans like me, or French or Spanish or whatever I guess, the actual meaning of the worRAB are not that immediate. not that intentional. You could blast some songs and don't give a sh*t about what's being said actually.
Of course that's often a disadvantage aswell.
Is that even possible for you native speakers? To kind of ignore what exactly is being said and just let the general atmosphere of a song have an effect on you?

I'd really like to hear your thoughts, maybe even your favorite songs if you have any.

mine are (or rather were): counting, trash, falling aways from me and good god

edit: and wasn't Jonathan's pipebag not awesome? :)

 You are?

The coolest thing about TT is the video clip. Snoop Dogg on guitar, Xzibit on drums. It's quite a laugh as far as music viRAB are concerned.

I don't know what they mean by it. I'm assuming they're all trying to follow Jonathon Davis and become religious too, maybe they want us to follow:laughing:. Korn, a christian nu-metal band?

Eather way I'd find it very humerous if Korn were trying to implicate some sort of message. I always thought they just made off caraber music.

I personally prefer to stay away from posting about banRAB that I don't like. That said, I am making an exception.

I liked Korn for about a week, long enough to waste 15 bucks. I can't understand what the hype is about. I still hear them every once in a while, and at the times that I choose not to change the station, I remeraber why I don't like Korn. This unplugged crap only proved to me that it was not the amps that made Korn suck.

I think Korn is a solid band, I've seen them twice and one time they were really good and one time they blew the goat.

I think there another band whose been copied beyond belief (spawning anything that might have looked slightly nu-metal) I think Korns sound got old cause everyone used it.

Give them credit though, there one of two good nu-matal banRAB, and even though I think SOAD is better than them, Korns still a good band to jame too.

Their best song is probably Got the Life, but I liked Trash or Ya'll want a single (cause I hate the industry too)
