showing the trailer and talking about it on itv1 now. It's probably finished now but they had a film critic talking about how the younger audience won't be able to watch it. I hope they don't edit it because anyone who started watching it at the beginning is gonna be 18+ now.
 
Wohoooo looks aboloutely fantasic!!!

So glad it is done in 2 parts so this way more details from the book will be included.

I was disappointed with the Half Blood Prince movie as I felt it was rushed and many important scenes were missing.

Now after having watched the final trailer, my hopes and expectations are high. Cannot wait!!! :D

And they had better do it justice, or else. ;)
 
Sorry about this, I'm fairly new to these forums and I'm not trying to tell people how to do things...:o

But is it really necessary to hide everything in "spoilers" when talking about specific plotlines?

I mean, is anyone REALLY reading this thread who HASN'T read all the books???
 
I would love this too, and I think you may be right actually. The films took a very long time filming back-to-back, we're almost definitely getting two films of well over two hours each, and I think the second part in particular really might be the longest of the lot.

The first film I can't see being 3 hours long, most of the really important stuff happens in the second half. But the director and writers have promised they're including absolutely everything and everyone, and that means a lot of characters who should have been properly introduced before now (Bill, Greyback, Regulus, Scrimgeour, etc) are going to get more time on screen than we'd think and that'll make the film much longer. Bill and Fleur aren't even together in the films yet so that one will take a lot of explaining. So yeah, I've talked myself round - it probably will be very long :p

Can't wait! That trailer was amazing... got chills when Hogwarts exploded. Bit depressed though, this time next year I'm going to have to watch
Lupin and Tonks die.

I know you say "to me" - I'm merely disagreeing with you. I know quite a few people who enjoyed the film and can see that it was "the calm before the storm" and served as an excellent set up to Deathly Hallows.

Personally I enjoyed it (as you well know) and found it a wonderfully constructed film with the truly spectacular cinematography as one of its highlights. I admit that I found the pacing in the middle of the film to be a bit slow, but all in all it was an excellent cinematic experience.

This, I am sad to say, is the downfall for many fans.
 
I see what you mean but some people only watch the films. Some may be checking the thread for trailers/interviews without reading the books first, and talking about plotlines without spoiler tags would..well, spoil it :D:o

there are alot of people who only watch the films ,i read first 2 books but found the films less exciting as i knew what was going to happen so i stopped reading them and just watched the films

I think I must be one of the only people who just isn't that bothered by this part of the book or film.

Also took the quote out of context there. I said I also compare the cinematography, the acting, the plot and script, granted said other stuff.

So I don't think it is a downfall to be aware of the full story as well.
 
Whereas I preferred the first two films, precisely because they stayed more faithful to the book!

Films 3 and 4 cut out far too much of their respective plots in my opinion. I often wonder whether they actually make much sense to people who haven't read the books! So many things are skated over and not explained properly...to the point of being ridculous.

Films 5 and 6 were better though. And I can't wait for the final one!
 
I have family and frienRAB who haven't read the books (nomatter how much I try to get them to read, they won't bother) but they enjoy and understand the film series. Sometimes I have to explain the names of a few objects, but that's about it really. The series has been lucky that they've had J.K on set to observe filming and have had the same screenwriter (with the exception of number 5). When DH comes out in cinemas, I guess we can truly tell if all the knots are tied in terms of the films' plot and details. But I have yet to come across a Potter film that doesn't make sense.

And this is why I say that fans should go into the cinema with an open mind, otherwise they are going to be let down. If they do not let the magnificent books cloud their vision of the films, then they'll enjoy them a lot more than they do now.

Anyway, nice to see some support for films five and six for a change. Usually, those are the ones that get bashed because of cuts/changes etc...But I have full faith in the filmmakers. They knew the end of book 7 when they were filming HBP, so I guess that they have tweaked the plot a bit for it to connect with the other films and for it to still make sense with the events of DH, while crafting it in a visual form for non-readers to understand as a whole. Adapting a book is not as easy as some people may think.
