The OFFICIAL Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Parts 1 & 2 Thread

I agree, a pat on the back for WB, after the shambles the 3D conversion Clash of the Titans I would rather have a normal 2D version rather than seeing the release date pushed back to January or whatever just to accommodate 3D.

However, I think Warner will re-release all 8 HP films in the future and convert them all to 3D.

Because it benefits the film. It's a reason for Harry to break up with Cho, instead of going into all the details about Marietta betraying the DA - that way, there would be no long and pointless exposition featured. They did it just fine in the film.

Breaking News: Deathly Hallows is said to be rated a PG-13 in America. So that could mean that we should expect a UK rating from the BBFC soon. It will more than likely be a 12A.

Just wanted to add another point to this, Marietta was introduced in the book with Cho, purely as a plot device. Why in the film, should they spend the money and wasting film time on an essentially pointless character?

Yes you can argue it's not 'by the book', but the way they did it works better with Cho.

I don't know whether to see it when the cinema is going to be full of people or wait a few weeks. I want to wait a few weeks but I know I'll probably see it at the first opportunity!!

Well, the movies introduced me to Harry Potter. I wasn't a fan at first, but as soon as the film version of Prisoner of Azkaban came out, I got hooked. And that's what I love about the movies - they have introduced people to the HP series and have introduced them to the books too, resulting in the very large fan-base. Obviously there were fans before the films were released, but I do legitimately think that the films have done an excellent job at creating JK's magical world. Long live Harry Potter, I say.

OotP was in 3D and so was HBP. But I wasn't too impressed with the 3D in HBP. It was good in OotP, but because it was only the last 15 minutes, it served as a novelty rather than being an attraction to the film.

I do prefer Harris' portrayal of Dumbledore as he looked more like how I imagined him too. However, I think if he had still been alive, I don't think he would have been able to pull off the more action packed scenes.

It is available in 2D still at the cinema. Trust me I have no intention of seeing in 3D.

To person, (sorry can't find comment to quote it) who asked about them changing it, I would of expected some of it to change. Firstly, as they have to make it work on screen and secondly there are areas of the story which were not mentioned in previous movies that are important to the final movies so they need to work them in as not to confuse those who haven't read the books. Example would be the shard of mirror that Harry has. Those who have read the books, know who gave it to him and what it can do, those who haven't, will be very confused if something is not written to explain it.
