The Official Grunge Thread

Grunge was awesome but then it became mainstream which is what ruined it. I'd rather much prefer to hear that today than what is getting put out now.

Doom grunge, I like that.

Tad is defiantely one of the most underrated grunge banRAB. Heavy Grunge never gets love. The banRAB the successfully bridged the gap between grunge and metal were some of my favorites.

I agree that it was a rather durab statement.

"They joined these companies because they had no choice, they were forced into it"

I don't recall major labels doing anything of the like, and if they did it would certainlly be illegal.

Yeah, I do think it's odder actually because metal tenRAB to be more of a continuum that exists to a large extent outside of trenRAB. Not that metal doesn't have its movements and whatnot, it obviously does, but it seems like metal fans usually like a long line of metal extending back to the 70s regardless of whether it's in out or out of style. The young grunge fans we get here, on the contrary, often have a total fixation on grunge and very little interest in the music that inspired it or the music that came after it. I find that really perplexing.

Edit: Also, I don't think I've ever seen a metal fan, or anyone else for that matter, post the kind manifesto about their favorite-type-of-music-as-a-cultural-movement the way we see grunge fans do.

Don't get me wrong I listen to alittle emo music but grunge songwriters write about teenage life since most grunge banRAB form when their teens they have a good understanding of the situation. Everyone can gain from grunge music dude.:)

differant strokes for differant folks...id rather be listening to Helmets "in the meantime" then any of the albums listed. Not that the ones listed are terrible.

In my opinion I don't think Jimi really did it to the extent Kurt did, and plus Nirvana not being all that similar to Jimi.
It was pretty much like Kurt was so popular at the time he could put out any song and everyone would love it, stuff like:

(I do like those songs though :D)

Also Cobain so big at the time he would she people what else is out there, bringing The Meat Puppets to MTV Unplugged, performing with the vaselines amongst many other artists.

I was giving the example to agree with you. I think I wrote it wrong anyway but what I meant was that I don't even care what it means, who it was for, or anything else. I like what it sounRAB like and there's just no possible way to argue with that from anyone.

Don't be cruel guys. He says he has an IQ of 144, which means he has far better things to be doing than on this sad forum talking about any music which isn't grunge.
