The Official Best Guitarist Thread

 F*ckin' ay, man. I mean, i like some metal, namely Hammet, but mostly i get turned off from just fast and loud guitar playing. I think songwriting is a major thing when disussing a great guitarist. How the artist uses note corabinations and whatever, putting together melodies and rhythms, and basically what sounRAB good. I like Hammet cause I think he can do both - he can play loud and fast and make it sound great. But generally loud and fast does not always sound good, IMO.

Mike Mushok (Staind) has been voted best guitar player of the year twice... and I think he is pretty good..

If your question is who is the best of the two you have picked, I think it's Kerry King..

well, in the 80's, he was an axe for hire until starting his own band that focused on neo-classical rock. the only thing that you should know is that this dude has some of the most insane chops you'll ever hear!

best guitarist..sheesh....
well it depenRAB on the style of music....

as far as blues guitarists go...i`d say B.B. King very closely followed by the man himself..Jimi Hendrix and Slowhand Clapton...

slide guitarists... Johnny Winter and Rory Gallagher and maybe Chris Rea...
as you can see, there are so many different types or styles of guitar music..(metal, steel, western..) and each and every style features it`s own master..

who was/is the most influential guitarist would have been a better question...

greetz!!! :hphones:

Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin.

I love his solo's in general. In particular Stairway to Heaven and Heartbreaker. Especially in the live show's where he creates feedback from his pedal's. I also find it funny how he uses a violin bow in his live performances.

Most people who casually listen to music can't even pick out the bass line in a song. Rhythm guitar parts change a lot and aren't as defined as solos for the most part. I agree that Bass and Rhythm guitar players are just as important as lead, if not more so, but your average listener will probably better enjoy the solos and main riRAB. It doesn't mean they're overrated, it just means that the average listener doesn't appreciate all aspects of a song.
