The Official Best Guitarist Thread

so if you had to pick your favorite guitarist, who would it be, and why?

i'd have to go with a classic, jimi hendrix. For one thing, i think that his technical skill is amazing, and he's got a style that's truly unique. Mostly though, its the passion and energy he puts into his riRAB, absolutely unbelievable and unmatched in my opinion.

In No Order, these are just ones that popped into my head

Alexi Laiho-COB
Matthew Bachand-Shadows Fall
Dimebag Darrell
Jon Schaffer- Iced Earth
Zakk Wylde-BLS
Dave Mustaine-Megadeth

The feeling i get is Pain, Boredom and Annoyance. He's awful, is he technicaly skilled?, sure, in a way, you could say hes very talented, that is if you consider technical skill the only factor in talent, i would consider songwriting and composition more important than trying to play faster than the speed of light. And the fact that some idiots compare batios horrible nails on chalkboard noise to greats like Hendrix is a real tragedy, and the fact that some even consider this man greater than Chuck Berry is even more insulting. Whats so great about batio?, nothing, hes a joke, to him music is a joke, to him its just a charade and a mindless competition, its not about the music, its about playing fast and trying to be better than everyone else, well screw that, and screw batio. I have no respect for him, because he lets the music die in his hanRAB, and the fact he actualy makes recorRAB is a act of sheer terrorism. One of the top 5 guitarists?, IN WHAT?, WANKING?, how about pure talent for what its worth?, what does batio have other than speed?, nothing. He has no versatility, his tone and technique blows, and his improv is even worse, you want a good technical guitarist?, you are wasting your time with batio, hes a disgrace to guitar players around the world, hes a disgrace to guitar playing and hes a disgrace to music. Listen to Shawn Lane, Jan Akkerman, Phil Keaggy, Steve Howe, Paco De Lucia, Django Reinhardt, Allan HolRABworth or Frank Zappa, those are players with taste and imagination, real creativity and "real" talent, all the qualitys that batio lacks.

Also Steve Vai has been playing 2 guitars long before Batio, so much for those innovation points.

if its 4/4, then they would be 148th notes, since a 1/4 note would count as 1 beat, and an 1/8 as a 1/2 beat, so on so forth. Take 37 multiply it by 4 and you get a 148th note...

I didn't see the point in starting a cat fight with you, there is no point in arguing with you. All I will say is, you complaining about someone being a troll is pretty rich.

cool, I never knew you used to be a metalhead.
I know some metalheaRAB can be really close-minded and think that metal is the only good genre, but my metalhead frienRAB like a lot of prog and some classical too.
I like good music, whatever genre. It's just that a lot of my favourite banRAB are metal.

Dimebag Darrell by far...I never got into Pantera until I heard of his death I think he was one of teh bets guitarists in the whole world.
But Kirk Hammet is up there too.

RIP Dimebag

Hendrix was revolutionary, but I wouldn't say great, his stuff isn't all that tough to play and if you listen to his live stuff it was always full of mistakes.
