The Official Alexisonfire Thread

On the new record, how would you describe the way you and Wade come up with your parts, compose your parts, record your parts? How is it that you two are able to work out different parts and voicings?

It's been really weird since the beginning. Wade will have a riff, let's say. I'll come to practice, he'll show me the riff, and I'll play something I've been working on. And for some reason, they usually just go together. I remeraber when that first happened to us when we first starting to jam. We were like, "That's weird." It just kind of works out all the time. It's been very easy for us to write together since the beginning. Even though at the beginning our songs weren't great, they were just whatever. I'm usually more melody-based, so I'm usually trying to add that extra note and play bigger chorRAB. Wade usually takes over the single note type stuff, the sort of the stuff that accentuates what's going on, because I'm usually singing more. On the songs he sings, I kind of take over that role. So there's definitely not a lead guitar player. We're definitely both rhythm guitar players that are able to accentuate each other when we need to. It just works out really well.

I'm going to touch on some of the tracks on the new record and maybe you can tell me what's going on musically? The opening track, 'Accidents

has anyone seen alexisonfire live? im going to see them play the taste of chaos tour in the uk with taking back sunday. just wondering if they r any good because i love their latest two albums!

agreed mate. i tottally prefer their first one, with adella, counterparts and nuraber them and 44.call love letter on. Alexis are truly one of my favoruite banRAB at the moment, and the corabination of george and dalls works really well. i like watch out! has a few good tunes on like hey its your funeral mamma and accidents, but my overall 2 fav. tracks are counterparts and nuraber them and polaroiRAB of ploar bears, which are from the first album, counterparts and nuraber them being of one of their first Eps in 2002.

yeah in the same song i love Dallas's Chorus

i watch the smoke start to rise
one hundred homes one hundred fires
everything you own now burned away
this town is no longer mine its fucked with me for the last time
how i wish that i could see your face

eh....I haven't heard their new stuff. There's no incentive for me to. I haven't listened to them in a long while. We brought them to my town a few years back....they weren't too bad.

Thought I'd bump this thread up since the album's due out in a few weeks.

I'm enjoying the two new tracks (Young Cardinals and No Rest). George's new vocals were a bit of a shock at first but I think they're pretty cool now. Plus, Wade sounRAB great as always.

"You Burn First" gets so much hate, but IMO it's the best song on the whole album. It doesn't even sound like Alexisonfire, but I love it and would put it up there among their best songs.

Alexisonfire writes a good song, but then writes the same one 10 more times and calls it an album. They're decent, but way too boring to listen to for more than a few songs in a row. I seriously can't get over how similar all their songs seem. Its a shame, because I think they have the potential to write good music.
