The Nokia N91 is the ultimate media device

I searched the forums and found no real info on using the Yahoo! Music unlimited subscription service with the Nokia devices, but after performing the firmware update I saw that it was listed in the compatible devices. I wrote up my review of the Nokia N91 and why I think it is the ultimate audio playing mobile device. Does anyone else agree?

Nice review, the N91 is truly best music phone.
And it exudes quality, unlike the walkman comptetitors that feel plasticky.

an SE perspective. Sticking to primarily to music (avoiding cam / s60 comparisons).

The walkman series have comparable sound, but do so in a phone that is smaller and lighter than the n91. The later walkman series phones have a2dp which the n91 lacks.

The w800/w810 are able to compete with the n91 in storage now with pro duo sticks reaching 4GB. As it's solid state you don't have to worry about breaking the hard drive as some members of this forum have.

The software on the n91 is better, but (going slightly away from music) some can argue its not $100+ better than the comparable walkman.

i wonder if they will release a firmware update for the 4gb to get a2dp.. I thought it had the hardware but the software implementation was just not that great.

.....yeah....a Ford has an engine and so does a Mercedes.....but the engine in the Mercedes is a hell of a lot better and therefore worth more..please dont compare Sonys with Nokias.......Sony makes everything.....Nokia makes phones.

it is probably possible, but let us not keep our expectations too high...

i heard that nokia is going for a new BT chip, the ones from Murata, and probably dumping or getting less from CSR... if we will see a new or updated BT certification for the N91 8GB, then most likely everything is or many things are new, which could well be the end for any possibility of BT upgarde for the older N91... my 0.2

.. that analogy made no sense... are you saying just because the n91 is s60 it's better? I am not following you. I stated in my arguement that sticking soley to music the n91 is not that much "better" if better at all than SEs.

If we start comparing the whole phone that is a completely different thread

If you compare music quality of N91... it "much more better" than any W series of SE. I am telling with my experience & many many in this forum who owned these phones can also tell you that.

got you....just not a fan of SE's as a whole....I'm sure the walkman SE's have great audio and i've never usded the N91 so I cant compare...I just think SE's are completely inferior compared to Nokias in general (as a phone/multi-media device) my wife used the S710a for a long time and the only real positives where the camera and the screen....other than that, the SE UI and slow moving menus were dreadful.

to be fair to se, they do have much better BT than nokias, and i like the fact that u can edit your "words" list if uadded wrong words to your t9 list

...but nokia still >>>>>>>>> SE

nah, if you remember it took them (SE) a while before they can get the ringtones to be piped into the headset, then the MP3 wont also playback on the headset, their BT headsets used to be single pairing only as well, then their voice dial was pure crap... at least they have sorted out most of these issues, but it took them (SE) a while...

agreed. i have the n91. music cant be touched. battery life is so good to me. wifi is awesome, always surfing wherever. only issues is the lag when sending msgs, but im getting used to it. keypad as well is getting nice. i thought id hate it cause its tiny but its almost metallic keypad so it feels good to use it. just sometimes i miss it. got so much music and the remote is so useful, for hte price i paid definitely worth it.
