The Ninth Gate on C4 3/11/03

Watched this last night (amazingly staying up till past 1am) but was perplexed by the ending which seemed to be wide open to interpretation.

Can anyone explain what I was meant to understand or is it meant to be inscrutible?

Otherwise a good film, even if it looked a bit like a Stella Artois advert later on.

Corso (or however you spell his name) went on to acheive imortality I guess , the guy who he was working for showed us what would happen if you had all the pictures wriiten by the devil together as he was at first able to touch fire without pain but one of the pictures was fake so he didn't acheive imortaility and he felt pain again.
 
I thought the film was aload of plop, but stuck with it because of faith in Johnny Depp and his ability to choose good projects.
Against my better instincts though, the film was slow, long, boring and didnt seem to have any real ending.

I was NOT impressed:rolleyes:
