Actually, the FCC has no jurisdiction over Canada.
Ironically, I think the FCC got into hot water with "Doraemon" than the other way around. I believe the FCC used a mascot that was accused of violating the copyright of "Doraemon".
You know, up until you brought it up just now, classifying "Zatch Bell" in the "mon" genera honestly never crossed my mind. But thinking it over, I think you're very right, it
does share a lot of key elements with "Pokemon", "Digimon", "Monster Rancher", et al. One thing I'm curious about though--does "Zatch Bell" have a strong computer game connection as the trio of shows I just named do?
Pretty good analysis, one I would tend to agree with. One thing I regret about the craze dying is that it killed the "Pokemon" comics, which I think gave us much better storytelling than the TV show did (I wonder if "Mix Master" will get a manga?)
There are definitely pictures of "Mix Master". I got my information on the show from the November issue of
Animation Magazine, which had a couple good pictures in the article and in an advertisement for the upcoming MipCOM. However, they don't seem to be too widespread yet, not in the internet anyway. The only ones I've turned up so far:
http://www.koreacontent.org/weben/inmarket/Ns_knews_view.jsp?group_cate_cd=06&news_seq=24220&genre_cd= and
http://www.sunwoo.com/ (click onto Property in right hand corner, then onto "Mix Master" under beginning releases).
Is there more "Digimon" coming? Where did you hear that, and do you have any more details?
I'm not really a fan of "Lilo and Stitch", because for some reason, I can't seem to get into that show, but I agree that there doesn't seem to be much similarity between it and "Pokemon". Maybe because both properties share a general "gotta catch 'em all!" theme, that leads people to assume they are very similar shows. However, that theme is handled completely different in "Lilo and Stitch", our two stars and their friends aren't trying to fight anybody or enter competitions with the monsters they find, quite the contrary, they're trying to catch them in order to keep them safe from the villians! (Incidently, I think the "Lilo and Stitch" series makes much better sense than most sequels, at least it's exploiting an element not fully developed in the original movie, rather than simply be a tired retread of the original story, as is the case with too many sequels.)
Ironically, "Lilo and Stitch" is one of Sunwoo's more prominent animation credits.
I'm with you all the way. While "Digimon" and "Medabots" and even "Shinzo" found a home on ABC Family, "Moncolle Knights" seems to have fallen between the cracks in the transition from Fox/Saban to Disney. It's a real shame, because I've heard there were new seasons that never made it over here.
Personally, I wish "Moncolle Knights" had featured Beginner and Miss Lune more. Things generally got really looney when either of those ladies were involved (as if MK wasn't zany enough already!).
What are you trying to do, expose poor Mondo to Rockna's blazing wrath again?
