The New Bond?

Apparently it's now down to either Julian McMahon or Daniel Craig!

So that's an Aussie pretty boy or an English not very pretty boy!

so the idea that bond is a tall, dark, hanRABome old etonian in his mid thirties seems to have passed the MGM execs by!

Clive Owen WILL be the next Bond! (Watch this space!).

For the next film 'Casino Royale' bond is going back to his roots, which, i for one am glad about.
I've been a big Bond fan for a number of years, and i think the last film got to bogged down with CGI action sequences,
(especially the finale).

I would like to say Pierce Brosnan was an excellent 007, and cliches at the ready, will be a tough act to follow. When you weigh up all the rumours about who's going to play James Bond next, i would stake a ball of money on it being Clive Owen. (99% of the time the actors always British/Irish).

Expect a statement from Eon Productions/Sony, in the summer!

I really really don't see Julian McMahon as Bond. I just can't picture it. He's great in Nip/Tuck, but I think he'd just come of a bit cheesy trying to do the suave Bond thing... Works for Dr. Troy, but Bond? nope...

Daniel Craig - Now there is an interesting choice... If Martin Campbell is going for "grittier, tougher Bond" and "...getting away from the huge visual effects and comic relief" as he's stated in interviews, Daniel could be a superb choice. :)

Personally, I have no real objection to Clive Owen either. Think he could be great as the "grittier" Bond too!

I don't think Daniel Craig is the best choice. Terrific actor, but I can't envisage him in the role.

I do like Julian, but if they are going Aussie, Hugh Jackman must be a better candidate.

The Bond after that? Well, in ten years, how about James McAlvoy (sp), Steve from Shameless???????

I'd agree, Julian could work, if they are sticking to the same old formula... but I don't think they want to do that by the sound of it.

Think Daniel would be a much better embodiment of the Bond of Flemmings original novels, which seems to be more the direction they want to head in.

Be interesting to see if they can actually do it, or if they do just slip back into the same old format...

timothy dalton has been down the 'darker bond' route before, and to be honest they are my favourite bond flicks probably for this reason.

the last one started with huge promise with the torture scenes, but reverted back to a generic bond film. i suppose that's the sell for most though - you know what you're getting.
