The need another Firmware upgrade, and fast!

I tried to play MGS3 on my PS3 today after Resistance (which I couldn't sign into online for some reason, but I didnt try hard so no biggie) and it looked like complete utter shit! The main reason I bought a PS3 now instead of later is so I could play PS2 games, but it looks like that will have to wait now too. Hopefully by the time I complete Resistance and Gears of War and other games on my 360 (I know, I have time) they will have fixed this, and leave me with enough time to beat MGS3 before MGS4 comes out. Good news is I heard that a few people who called Sony are getting info that they are aware of this problem, so i expect a fix in a month or 2 at the most.

no hardware resolution scaling is the reason for this problem right?

just go buy sony's $3000 up/downscaler unit, it'll fix it right up!
 
no, some sort of bad deinterlacing is happening somewhere as it seems to only affect games using field rendering.

i dont expect it to be fixed till they switch to software emulation
 
Its certainly not emulator software. Its probably the hardware.

Also, some games don't work because they're made to push the PS2 core beyond what its meant to. Ken Kutaragi even said in some of the press conferences that "All PS2 games that are within the PS2 technical limits will work on the system". Interpret is how you want but he insintuated that games who went beyond the tech settings wouldn't work/will have a hard time.
 
im pretty sure it will be fixed also. i mean look at the 360, it had Barbie ready to go at launch, now thats keeping on the ball, way to go M$...
 
i would have bought it without the "hype" as well. i didn't even see or read any "hype" before it even came out. i just knew what games will be coming to the system, hence why i bought it. MGS4 and GT5 ftw
 
^^^ thats why i got mine. didnt need any so called hype, i was gonna get one to have one no matter what. if i dont have alot of games to play right now, oh well. still wanted one to have one for certain games now and alot of games later.
