The Music on Family Guy (Something to Praise)

While I truly dislike "Family Guy," I have to admit, the Brian/Stewie musical numbers are pretty good. The FCC song was funny, as were Brian/Stewie's number in "Road to Rhode Island" and "Road to Europe." Maybe I like them because they sound a bit less "contemporary" and a bit more like old movie musicals. They ultimately are the only things I enjoy about Family Guy.

Apparently not. Do they use it all the time or only on certain episodes? That may explain why I haven't heard orchestral music on the show.

Only occasionally, but starting with season two the big action/battle episodes tend to be wall-to-wall with orchestral music. The most notable single episodes with orchestra are the series finale and the season one finale.

I can't believe I neglected to mention this before, but I also really like the high energy music played during the scene in "He's Too Sexy For His Fat" when the exterminators are shooting up the house, trying to hit the fleas. A moment I especially like is when the three are cornered and the flea slowly hops towards them, and the traumatized partner steps in and saves them.

The music in "Ready, Willing, and Disabled" when Joe chases the perp is also quality.

"I Am Peter, Hear Me Roar" has one of my favorite pieces of music: the Mancini-esque cue when Quagmire sets up his push-button lounge. The horn hits just crack me up.

Some of the music can be really fun, even though I'm not a fan of the show. I hated the episode with Peter singing "The Bird is the Word" however. (Even though it wasn't original like many of FG's songs)
