The most INTENSE song ever?

Thing is, Dream Theater is fantastic live, but I would never see them. John Petrucci has amazing improvisational skills, but his songs are whetted with staunch unemotion.

I still say it doesn't take a great guitar lick to make an intense song. Some of the most groin-grabbingly intense stuff I heard are purely vocal performances.

wow lilblood ^Thats a powerful song! Is it unbearable in the sense you cant listen to it anymore or you just feel like you have to do something....like smash something lol

I definitely second that...great example.

I would also add:

"Angel of Death" - Slayer
"Captor of Sin" - Slayer
"Beyond the Black" - Metal Church ( a little slow at times yeah but it rules)
"Whiplash" -Metallica
"MMMM Bop" - Hanson

Not the heaviest of songs (in some respects), but I've always found Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" to be an extraordinarily intense song. Freddie Mercury's vocals alone during the "I don't want to die..." section are so agonizing and passionate that it wrenches at the very soul.

I think Sick Sick Sick by Queens of the Stone Age is pretty intense.

Some other possible candidates would be Black Dog or Achilles Last Stand by Led Zeppelin. Black Dog can sound kinda wimpy when you start out, but by about 1 minute to the end, you just can't stop head-banging. And Achilles Last Stand is proof, I think, that a song doesn't have to be loud or incoherent to be intense. It's a ten-minute long marathon, and you start wondering how anybody could possibly have enough energy to rock so hard for so long.

How about Hester Prynn or LegenRAB Never Die, both by As Blood Runs Black?

The second breakdown in Hester Prynn (the song really gets going after the first one) just makes me want to rip something apart.

I'd have to say Soulfly's Bleed. I know some will say it isn't really metal (yeah, yeah) but it's the single most sgressive track ever! (Except for all the other most agressive tracks that will probably be pointed out now!!)

the beginning of entorabment of a machine is EXTREMELY INTENSE...but a little less than halfway through it dies out...so ima go with dig by mudvayne...it makes me wana roundhouse kick a poor defenseless dog...and i love dogs...

Kill Like A God by The Carrion Creed isn't a particularly good song, but it's v.loud and goes on for 6 minutes. And yes, they use a human drummer!!!:yikes::drummer:
