How does the mood of "The Most Dangerous Game" change with the story's different settings, and how does that contribute to the story's level of suspense?

at the beginng when the guy just walks into house the mood is very calm and welcoming.

it slowly becomes a hostile mood. It makes the suspence very high.
 
i fucking hated that book. that was freshman year. so lets see if i can remember. when he is running from the dude, it was suspenseful. so pretty much when it is intense it is suspenseful... duh
