The Most Annoying Anime Characters

IMO, Naruto is annoying-his voice is prpbably the most irritating I've heard.
The two kiRAB that work in the workshop in Bleach-they are so obnoxious I want to smack them, espeically the little redheaded boy.
Haruko from FLCL- she is so obnoxious it's a turn-off.

WHat about you-what characters annoy you?

For a while I must admit that Tokidoki [Amatsuki] has weak thinking

Like there's characters like him that would say something foolish just to protect the ones he loves. Which people would slap him upside the head.

Naruto can definitely be annoying, but that is an intentional part of his character. ChiChi from DBZ is annoying because she defines what it is to be a soccer-mom, and that clearly shows when she is overprotective of Gohan. I guess you can say that Usopp from One Piece is somewhat annoying, but that's only because of how crazy and obnoxious he can act, although he's still an awesome character. The 4kiRAB Usopp, however, is annoying 24/7, especially with Jason Griffith's voice.

-Mayu (Elfen Lied): She apparently has no brain cells if she [xspoiler=just in case]walks in on 2 diclonii fighting, then keeps whining 'bout it.[/xspoiler]

For me, the most annoying character would be Mayo Sakaki from the third Fushigi Yugi OVA. What bothered me the most about her was that even though Taka was happily married with Miaka and expecting their first child, she still has this distribing crush on him and wants to be with him. She gets so uptight with being the new Priestess of Suzaku, even though she does nothing throughout the entire OVA, thinks that being the Priestess is granteed a happy ending and basically acts like a total witch throughout the whole story. Even when we see her backstory, I couldn't really feel a lot of sympathy for her. Despite Eikoden being the weakest of the Fushigi Yugi OVAs, I think without Mayo there, or put in a different better character than her, it would have been better, even with the mediocere storyline. The ending was pretty decent though.

Jinta from Bleach (the red haired boy who works at Urahara's shop)....Is extremely abusive to his co-worker Ururu (who seems to be a sweet and gentle little girl, who never so much as raises her voice to him),and has been a major jerk to Ichigo,Renji, and Kon,all of whom I really like....

Ririn from Bleach (one of the filler arcs "mod soul" characters,a little, blond girl wearing a hooded cape in human form,a chicken wearing a hooded cape in stuffed animal form)....Stupid,but acts like a know-it-all,plus is abusive to Kon...

All the girls from Love Hina. Despite popular belief, there is no evil world conspiracy to look at women's panties.

Masato/Max from Pokemon... just shut the hell up you fuzzbag, you are the most annoying character in Pokemon. "Oh look at me I'm SMRT about Pokemon, I like to treat my sister and Ash like they're younger than me."

I know some most annoying anime characters, mostly jerkoff characters:

Chi-Chi(Dragonball/Z) - Witchy mother who's so overprotective of Gohan, but her bashing by Super Buu was great by being turned into an egg.
Pan(Dragonball Z/GT) - Annoying troublesome brat who does get her beatings that made me happy.
Ataru/Jariten/Megane/Kurama/Ran/Spice Girls:Ginger,Pepper,& Sugar(Urusei Yatsura) - They may be annoying at times, but they're great, crazy hilarious characters, hehehe.
Max(Pokemon) - Annoying know-it-all brat who always knows everything on Pokemon & was so rotten to take the badge away from poor Ash after beating his cool father.
Asuka(Neon Genesis Evangelion) - Bossy, bratty competitive witch who loves being nasty/sadistic on poor Shinji/Rei which makes you wanna punch her.
Seto Kaiba/Weevil/Rebecca/Gozaburo/Jasmine & Mindy/Slade & Jagger/Camulla/Howard/Trapper/Uryu/Lazar/Mr.Armstrong/Carly's boss/Rudolph(Yu-Gi-Oh!/GX/5D's) - All of those jerkoRAB were so annoying, but some of their downfalls were so great.
Tyson/Emily/Michael/Dunga/Dr.K./King & Queen/Daichi/Rick(Beyblade:V.Force/G.Revolution) - They were really annoying jerkoRAB as much as I hated them, except for Emily, Queen, & Daichi who I mostly loved.
Richard Moore(Case Closed) - Rachel's total jerkhole of a detective father who always bashes on poor Conan/Jimmy which he can never give the poor kid a break.
Naru(Love Hina) - Hot tempered abusive witch who loves to beat up on poor Keitaro due to his perverseness, but she does love the lovable loser.
Flay/Patrick Zala(Gundam SEED) - They were such annoying psychopathic jerks, but I'm glad they got their comeuppances.
Edward(Fullmetal Alchemist) - He may be a total jerk bashing on his poor brother/father which annoyed me, but he's still awesome which he does have a heart.
Ota(Patlabor) - Annoying idiotic jerky cop who sometimes screws up, but he's mostly hilarious.
Naomi(Zatch Bell!) - That annoying ugly sadistic brat neeRAB a major beating for tormenting poor Zatch.
Zofis(Zatch Bell!) - Evil, rotten, sadistic manipulative stinkbag who loves to control people even Koko & loves torturing poor Sherry. At least he got his just desserts at the end which was awesome.
Sakura(Naruto/Shippuden) - Mean abusive witch who always bashes on poor Naruto, but she does care for him & was pretty awesome in Shippuden.
Ino(Naruto/Shippuden) - Another mean witch who's Sakura's friend/rival who bashes on poor Naruto as well, but in Shippuden she's pretty hot & actually softens in the series.
Kiba(Naruto/Shippuden) - I always hated that annoying brat which I wanna sock him, but Naruto beats his butt a few times, hehehe.
Sora(Naruto Shippuden) - That annoying troublesome jerk gets on my nerves as much as I wanna sock him.
Patina(Magical Doremi) - Stupid, annoying little blob of snot who neeRAB a severe beating mostly.
Jinta(Bleach) - Redheaded jerkhole who abuses poor Ururu/Kon & is mean to poor Ichigo & the others.
Toshiro(Bleach) - Such an annoying jerkoff at times on poor Rangiku/Ichigo/Karin as much as I despise him.
Ririn(Bleach) - Stupid annoying blonde brat who neeRAB a beating for her brattiness which I'm happy she got her beatings from Ichinose, Yoshi, Grand Fisher, Yylfordt, & Patros, the awesome villains.
Kenryuu(Bleach) - Annoying, crappy bodyguard of Princess Rurichio's who deserves a huge beatdown at times.
Rapunzel(MAR) - Sick disgusting hag who's one hot tempered psychotic killing freak which I'm glad Dorothy & Ian crushed her.
school bullies/Talho/Maurice,Maeter,& Linck/The Ageha Squad(Eureka 7) - Those annoying rotten pricks need such a brutal beating.
Demegawa(Death Note) - That annoying sicko got his just desserts thanks to the awesome Mikami & his grand entrance of DELETE mode, hehehehe.
Nina(Code Geass) - Disgusting racist girl who's obsessed with Euphie & is pretty crazy/psychotic after Euphie's death & returns in season 2.
The High Eunuchs:Zhao,Xia,Cheng,Xiang,Cai,Tong,& Huang(Code Geass R2) - Sick, rotten, gaywad jerkoRAB which their well painful deaths by Li Xingke which was so awesome.
Adiane(Gurren Lagann) - Mean, nasty general of Lord Genome's who's so cruel on poor Nia which I'm glad she died.
Zed(Kiba) - He may be awesome, but he seriously neeRAB a major attitude adjustment especially after going big jerkoff mode on the poor princess, Rebecca which I agree with your amazing comments Light Lucario.
Prince Ali/Tiera(season 1)/Wang/Joshua/Michael & Nena Trinity/The A-Laws:Arthur,Andrei,& Arber(Mobile Suit Gundam 00) - They may be such annoying creeps for their nasty actions, but it was great that Tiera has a heart in season 2.
Eva/F. Rosenbach/Director Heinemann/Dr.Boyer/Mr.Hartmann/The Baby/The Turkish town representatives(except for Dennis)(Monster) - Those nasty scurabags irritated me which I'm glad they got their just desserts at the end.

With Asuka, I've found alot of similar people in real life and much like the character there's a root cause there which makes them understandable. Often, an abrasive personality doesn't mean the person is 'evil' or self serving. They've simply had such a crappy hand in life that they partially had to become like to survive or get away from it. I'd say the show eventually makes it clear that this is the case for Asuka. Her personality might annoy, but they make it clear that deep down she's a good person.

Anyway, let's see now........practically everyone in Code Geass. Just a flat cast that flip flop between melodrama and anime archetypes. Like a bad summer pop corn flick padded out into a 50 episode series.

Yeah, after the big four (Lelouch/Suzaku/Kallen/C.C.), the quality of the considerably large cast drops a lot. It didn't manage to top Gundam on that count.

Tina from Ai Yori Aoshi is one. Hey everyone, I'M A LOUD AMERICAN! And I grab breasts! This is funny, right?!?!?! And the dub, for lord knows what reason, made it infinitely worse. Sigh, harem shows...

Reccoa from Zeta Gundam. A victim of what I'll call the "Scirocco crush" disease. Ah ha, I'll join the thugs of the universe so I can get the loving I didn't get from Char! Seriously? How petty. Titans pilot Sarah Zabirov was like that too, though not as bad. Scirocco this, Scirocco that...I'll also mention Quess from Char's Counterattack for the same reason. These girls were all manipulated to an extent, I'll grant, but that doesn't make them blameless. Oh, and Rosamia Badam too. What was the point? She was nothing but an excuse to redo the Four Murasame story all over again. She wasn't interesting or likable in any way. Zeta's good, but filler wasted on random encounters with throwaway characters like her is a significant weakness of the series.

Yuna from Gundam Seed Destiny...do I need to explain this? Do I need to rant about his shallow personality and idioicy and how he made the Orb plotline more black-and-white than it needed to be? Probably not. A villain I can deal with, but not one I can't stand to listen to.

Oh, and Minmei. Well, maybe I'll like her better when I finally see the Macross dub...maybe.

She was actually my favorite character in the show, because she was always torn whether to be just frienRAB with Kaoru or to be aggressive and make him fall for her. That, and her inability to truly fit in to either America or Japan, due to moving around a lot, made it easy to sympathize with her. And as for the Southern accent, it was slightly vexing at first but I got used to it and I've heard far worse.

It's true, that aspect was actually pretty decent, but when she's used for humor she's incredibly annoying. I'm rather put off by the "loud American" stereotype. I thought the dub accent was outrageously unreal, it's a big reason I'd only ever watch it in sub format.

In fact, that's the thing with the entire show...there's some really nice story in there, but it's so often weighed down by the cliches of the genre.

-Narusegawa Naru from Love Hina. In a nutshell "Oh noes, Keitaro did something stupid and naive, he deserves to be blasted off again" ad nauseam. I might as well also say everybody else in that anime because they only exacerbate things.
-Practically everyone from Inu Yasha. Yes yes, there have a vestige of interesting traits in them, but ever since you-know-who came about they don't develop they just, murable and groan and do whatever they usually do.
-Renge from Ouran High School Host Club sometimes annoys me. Because sometimes she works and sometimes she doesn't. For some reason though whenever she enters into her rotating motor platform and then descend... it can get tiresome.

Amazingly, Yuna has fans who will argue he's a hero. That he was sincere in wanting to protect Orb and that Cagalli should have gone along with the whole arranged marriage thing.

Seriously, ANY character can get fans.

Even Quess Paraya? I find that hard to belive. Hey, shes a daughter of a political head in the Federation, of course shes going to be a pill to deal with. Hathaway tried to tone her down, but hey, shes just to wild for him to begin with. She got what she deserved in the end.

What happenRAB when parents dont beat their kiRAB...

Oh my GOD does Chichi drive me absolutely nuts. She tops my list as not only the most annoying anime character but the one that I cannot stand. I mean, there comes a time when every mother neeRAB to let her son go out into the real world but this woman just can't calm the heck down...ever. Man I wish somebody would have permanently shut her up.

Lacus from Gundam SEED and SEED Destiny. She takes a point of view that, while "good," is also naive to the point of idiocy, yet she gets away with it because of the godlike power she wielRAB in her series. The result is that doing the noble thing is made so easy for her that it becomes utterly meaningless.

She doesn't have to worry about any personal danger, because she and all her underlings are pretty much invincible. She doesn't have to worry about being wrong, because in the SEED-verse there aren't any legitimate reasons for fighting - either you're in Lacus' camp, you're an insane and/or evil monster, or you're a brainwashed minion thereof and you'll just have to be shown the error of your ways, poor dear. She doesn't have to worry about deepening a circle of hatred by killing people in her quest to end war, because all the "good" people can be safely disarmed with no risk whatsoever. She doesn't have to worry about people resenting her role as world policeman, because they'll all behave as soon as their big nasty leaders are out of the way. She doesn't have to worry about people continuing to fight her with small arms and guerrilla tactics once the mobile suits are gone, because that's just not how it's done in the SEED-verse.

And yet at the same time, the rest of us mere mortals - the ones who don't have plot armor shielding us, who remeraber pain and injustice suffered at the hand of the enemy, who can't simply shoot our enemies' weapons out of their hanRAB to avoid killing anyone - are apparently all idiots for continuing to fight. Because war is bad, and we should all stop doing it, and it's that simple.

Or not. She's about as far from saying anything useful or meaningful about war and conflict as it's possible to get, yet SEED would have us think she's absolutely brilliant. Real moral heroes, in history and in literature, have a tendency to die for their principles. I don't think anyone ever even considered having Lacus meet a similar fate.

Rubberchicken, I cede the problems of the "plot shield" and Lacus seemingly being perfection personified, but I think the rest of your criticism is off the mark. As I see it, Seed is not a rehash of "war is bad, period." It mostly recaptured that original Gundam concept of portraying two sides of a war that had reasons for fighting while also having corrupt elements from within. A colony got nuked and a militant faction developed within ZAFT as a result, whereas Earth was plagued by racism and people resentful of ZAFT's power and their deployment of N-Jammers. The thing is, the conflict is all the more serious because of the natural/coordinator divide and the paranoia brought about by both fear of "the other" and the constant escalation of warfare. I see Patrick Zala as a tragic figure more than an obvious villain. His militant beliefs notwithstanding, he honestly believed that he was doing the necessary thing in the face of a *credible* threat to ZAFT's very existence.

Mobile Suit Gundam through Char's Counterattack was content to show one era of an ongoing cycle of conflict. Seed's scenario parts ways with MSG's when it explores the idea that the cycle can eventually end--with mutual destruction or something much too close to it though, instead of an "Endless Waltz" of war, peace, and revolution, to borrow a term from another timeline. Radical elements helped get both sides to this point, of course, but when WMD's are being openly used in the field of battle it's not surprising that both sides would arrive at a point of desperation. That's not evil, it's understandable.

That was the context in which the final battle of Gundam Seed happened. As I see it, the intervention of Lacus and the Three Ships Alliance was simply an attempt to clirab atop the proverbial mountain and yell "STOP!", rather than some idealistic exercise. The alliance was a collection of people that recognized that the war was careening toward a point of no return, and that someone--anyone--needed to slam on the breaks. This they did, saving countless lives on both sides of the war. GSD is an entirely different can of worms, but for Seed there were all sorts of factors that led to the endgame scenario. It's not nearly as simple as Lacus being good and everyone else being durab. So in the original series, I don't find her annoying in the least.
