I watched the movie version of this last night after readin the book and everything was cool up untill the end.
I was like waht did they go and do that for almost came off funny. Kinda like a simpsons ending,

Something bad happens, "Noooooo", followed by straight away by something ironically worse, "Noooooooooooooooo".

And this was directed by the same guy who did shawshank........

The film was not too bad, only problem with the ending was it was predictable. You could tell straight away what was going to happen.

In teh book by the end they all survive (well at the end their alive anyways)

The mist stays and they hear a voice on the radio say a town name and they decide to head there.

Felt the book ending was a lot better than the movie, movie ending just didnt fit - noticed a lot in the movie everyone just gave up real quick, no hope. They had only just broken down when the idea popped straight into his head and up to this point he had been so fixed on surviving. just seemed out of place ending to me.

I like the film, not read the book but IMO Stephen King aint very good at endings, i've read a few of his stuff and it always cuts off - Cell being an example.

Like the film, did'nt like the ending, prefered the openess of the book.

The one thing that has stopped it having re-watch value for me though, is the religomite character. Too much, over the top, anoying, turn off. Was glad when she was sorted, but she had tainted the film by then.

I thought the ending was perfect and took the film to a whole new level. The idea of being eaten alive by creatures is something that would make anyone turn the gun on themselves. I heard Stephen King said that he wished he'd written the ending from the film.

This is the exact reason I turned it off after 30 mins the first time I tried to watch it, however, after reading this thread, I decided to try and watch it again the other night when it was on sky movies, I managed to get through it this time, and thought it was ok, pleased I did watch it all the way through, but wont be watching it again.

Finally got around to watching this, loved it, IMHO I found it very atmospheric, yes the monsters were the usual OTT nonsense but the human 'monsters' made the film for me, as to the ending....how can anyone not be effected by that? If you are not you are obviously not a parent!
