The Mentalist (Merged)

They have individual promos for each one. And it is arguably their crown jewel!

Yet instead of making The Mentalist one of it's crown jewels by exposing it to many more people they don't!

Is it just me or was the sound very low on channel 5 during this program, still enjoyed it.

Was thinking while I watched, what would it be like with an older female in the lead role say late 40's early 50's would all the flirting still go on and who would they cast !

I loved this episode - one of my favourites of this season.

Did you read that the goat we saw at the end took a bite out of Simon's bum and ruined his trousers. Lucky goat :D

Was there a big hint last night about the identity of "Red John"?
The CBI boss goes off for a week... Red John re-appears, seeming to know exactly what everyone's doing, and with access to a secure police website.
Could it be the CBI boss himself???

PS probably won't be as I always get the identity of the guilty party wrong.... I'd make a crap detective!

I do agree - The Mentalist should have more exposure. But actually its doing pretty well without it - it gets about the same ratings as the main CSI, often just beating it. The Mentalist was Five's top scripted show last week, not for the first time, and its usually 3rd for the time-slot behind BBC1 and ITV.

I've seen the same 17 episodes and the whole thing is getting pretty tedious. There is no dramatic tension and no moral issue - each episode is just a very one-dimensional puzzle that will inevitably be solved by Jane's amazing perceptiveness. I don't know why the rest of the supposedly professional team is there - they never come up with anything original while they run around doing whatever their "consultant" suggests.

Last night I watched the latest episode of Mentalist followed by an old Law & Order SVU. It reminded me just how good L&O is, even after all this time.

And Jane does smirk so much!

You could always buy the DVD boxed set. Comes with out-takes, a few deleted scenes and a pretty good documentary with interviews which are mainly Bruno & Simon.

Whislt the show is still very very okay... at what it does, it does seem to be getting slightly better week on week.

It must continue to do so because at some point during the series it got to be the most watched programme in america. So it must've been doing something cleverer than what it is now. Surely?

It's the first show to top the US ratings in its debut season since "Desperate Housewives," so obviously has something going for it...

I like it, but find it very "light" - the non-"Red John" episodes are a bit of a throwback to old-style hourlong standalone procedurals (i.e. no big story arcs), and there's as much focus on the banter between the CBI team as on solving the crimes. It's cute though, and Simon Baker obviously appeals to the ladies (Mrs Mickey makes no secret of it whatsoever!)

Worth seeing, just not a must-see for me just yet...

HeaRAB up Simon Baker fans.

Fiver are showing 1993/1994 eps of Home and Away where Simon played James Healey. 1st of 5 Simon eps is Friday 30th July at 6.30pm.

Also Ch5 are repeating The Mentalist Season 1 from same date at 9pm.
