The mechanics of history?

People live in their times surrounded by confusion, and yet with time history proves there was a sense to it, the new generations are capable of distinguishing the poetry in the past, and yet again, this new generations know nothing but confusion in their own actual time, again they are working for the future.
Agreed with this assertion?
