The MB Top 50 of the 00s

More excuses for the rab nazi's to enforce their superiority over commercialism. How fun. I dont really know the rules so i just made a shortlist of albums, in alphabetical order, some i know would be on a final list and some i know wouldnt but have played such a big part in my musical maturity over the last 10 years from being 15 onwarRAB that they really do need mention.

Yeah my old idea is starting to look a little better now that the community of rab has half-assed the 50 list. Personally, though, I think the current idea is the best- even if Radiohead does keep getting posted. It perfectly represents rabroad, a bunch of average albums and some people posting good ones, or at least that's my interpretation.

On another note, does anybody know if it is possible to make a poll with 100 options? We can take the communities list and the elitist list and put them both up on a poll and give a date and the highest 50 albums at the end of it will make the list. It would open options up to the community, like albums they hadn't thought of. All the rad obscure hip-hop, new progressive rock, good metal banRAB, etc... THEN we could vote and let the community decide.

I tried to cut it down to no more than one album by any band and ended up not including a lot of EPs. It's was tough deciding between a lot but regardless...

Well im glad you can see where im coming from, or at least that you're trying to because i was thinking my last post could easily make me sound like a prick which of course was never the intention.

The last couple of lines in your post there...thats pretty much the angle im getting at here. The way i see it the rab list should just be just that, it should be open to every meraber of this site to vote and nominate because doing it the other way means the vast majority of us WILL get to vote, sure, but not for what we want to vote for.

I'm not saying that would be horrible, just predictable to the point of not being useful.

Could make it easier, but that forces a set nuraber of albums from each year, which may not be ideal. One year may have 20 amazing albums to choose from, another it may be tough to pick 5. Just a thought.

My top 10 are:

1. Radiohead- kid A
2. Biffy clyro- puzzle
3. Queens of the stone age- songs for the deaf
4. The cribs- men's neeRAB, woman's neeRAB, whatever
5. Fleet foxes- Fleet foxes
6. TV on the radio- dear science
7. Klaxons- Myths of the near future
8. Foo fighters- One by one
9. Muse- Absolution
10. The killers- hot fuss

Yeah I understand, that's why what I was saying is this: We do this thread until it hits fifty, nominate some special merabers, they make a list of fifty- then we put all 100 up on a poll and give it a month. Then the top 50 get picked. That way both the merabers with 3 posts have albums they chose up on the poll, but also some of the more obscure greats of decade or not forgotten- and then the community from that point on has all of the power.

I like this list.

A top five off the top of my head...

1. At The Drive-In "Relationship Of Command" (2000)
2. Genghis Tron "Board Up The House" (2008)
3. Alexisonfire (2002)
4. The Dillinger Escape Plan "Ire Works" (2007)
5. The Wallflowers "Rebel, Sweetheart" (2005)

Kirby is our man for good hip-hop IMO.

Anyway, the only reason I suggested genre is because if we don't, its gonna be like 85% Indie-whatever and 15% whatever other people are interested in, and I've seen enough Pitchfork-esque lists to last a lifetime. Maybe I'm wrong, but I though rab is a more diverse place than that; if I wanted uniformity, I'd be part of the countless other forums out there where everybody is gagah over The Mars Volta, Muse, Arcade Fire, Of Montreal, Arctic Monkeys, U2, Sigur Ros, etc. and say "LOOK AT ME'Z I LIKE GOOD MOOZICKZ11".

So regardless of how a Top 50 of the Decade list comes about, I'm hoping to be surprised a bit. The question is; how can we get more regulars to participate without tossing in a post count minimum?

Schizotypic: I like that idea. Scratch my concerns.
